Juve-Atalanta, Marelli on the penalty not given for Rowe: “The VAR should have intervened. Fine to wave play on, but you cannot go beyond the rules”

Kalulu’s pull on Rowe in the Juventus box should have been penalised.

Juventus beat Atalanta 2-0 in a game that offered little else, but the penalty not awarded to the Bergamo side in the first half loomed large over the final result after Pierre Kalulu clearly pulled Rowe’s shirt in the penalty area.

On the pitch, referee Zufferli waved play on and VAR did not intervene, leaving the original decision in place. According to Dazn pundit Luca Marelli, that was a serious mistake too. The contact should in fact have been punished with a penalty and a card.
