There was a time not long ago where, among Justin Timberlake’s many talents, he was known to beat box withmixed reviews as to the quality and quantity of said skill.

It’s been a somewhat forgotten part of Timberlake’s catalog until Instagram creator Hannah Young posted about the *NSYNC member’s habit of beatboxing.

“We don’t talk about Justin Timerblake beatboxing enough because there was a moment in time where that man would be in the middle of a song and just boots and cats and boots and cats,” Young said. “And we were like, ‘Yes, there he is.’ Nobody questioned it.”

She continued, “Nobody said, Justin, you know, we have drums. This is a professional recording studio. There are instruments available to you. But no, Justin Timberlake wanted to make space noises with his mouth.”

“And we liked it. That’s what I need us to sit with,” Young concluded.

Timberlake weighed in on the video, offering an apology for his beatboxing.

“I often look back on that time as well. I still haven’t come up with any answers,” he wrote in the comments. “I don’t know how to apologize enough for whatever those ambitions were. Too many boots. Too many cats. I hope you can forgive me.”

Then he added, “Also, I can’t promise I won’t do it again. God help us all.”

Timberlake can be heard doing his beatboxing on songs like “Pop” and at shows like the “No Strings Attached” Tour at Madison Square Garden.

This isn’t the first time Timberlake has addressed his questionable habit.

When asked about the beatboxing during an episode of “Hot Ones” in 2023, Timberlake said, “File that under, you know, slightly regrettable.”
