Oct. 12 (UPI) — Universal Pictures is teasing the new slasher film River.
The studio shared a trailer for the movie Monday featuring Evil Dead actress Jane Levy and Happy Death Day star Jessica Rothe.
River is a horror movie starring Levy and Rothe as estranged siblings, who, along with their brother (Max Mattern), reunite in their rural hometown after their father’s death.
“As they set out to scatter his ashes at his favorite spot on a remote river, the trip devolves into a fight for survival as they are mercilessly hunted by a disturbing masked figure played by Dane DiLiegro,” an official description reads.
River marks the feature directorial debut of Joshua Giuliano and is produced by Spooky Pictures and Eat the Cat. Universal Pictures and Blumhouse Atomic Monster acquired the film following its debut at the Toronto International Film Festival in September.
The movie opens in theaters Jan. 15.
