After landing Twisters director Lee Isaac Chung to direct, Warner Bros is now in line to land another high-profile talent to star opposite Margot Robbie in its Ocean’s prequel. While a deal isn’t closed, Bradley Cooper is in negotiations to star in the prequel Chung is directing and Robbie is starring. Robbie’s production company LuckyChap is producing.

Sources say Cooper has been close with Robbie over the years and always wanted to work together, and this seemed the perfect opportunity. After a meeting with Chung, Cooper was on board.

The film is set to start shooting next year and in true Ocean’s fashion, the plot is locked in the vault other then it being a prequel. The current screenplay is by Carrie Solomon and based on characters created by George Clayton Johnson & Jack Golden Russell.

Cooper has strong ties at the studio where his current production deal is set up. He also has his Bullitt movie in development at Warner Bros that Steven Spielberg will direct with him starring.

Next up for Cooper is his Searchlight dramedy Is This Thing On? which he is directing and starring in. The film is set to make its world premiere Friday at the New York Film Festival.

Cooper is repped by Range Media Partners.
