Last season’s top three finishers, Inter, Napoli and Roma, all sit outside the play-off places as things stand. The reigning Italian champions and runners-up are both on zero points, behind teams including Viking, Sabah Baku and AEK Athens. Only Como are well inside the play-off places, though they still have plenty of big teams to face on their European journey.
With the rankings as they stand, missing out on fifth place this season is no longer the main worry. If things carry on like this, even the guaranteed fourth place could come under threat.
