There are major upcoming changes to Medicare Advantage plans that will impact thousands of Granite Staters.

Several Medicare Advantage plans, which are private insurance plans approved by Medicare, are being discontinued. Some insurance carriers are reducing the areas where they offer coverage or leaving the New Hampshire Medicare Advantage market altogether.

Coos County will have no Medicare Advantage plans available next year. That affects more than 27,000 current enrollees.

CVS Health and BMC Health System are leaving the state entirely. This decision affects more than 14,000 enrollees.

In 2027, New Hampshire will have 20 Medicare Advantage plans offered by three organizations: Humana, UnitedHealth Group, and new market entrant Devoted Health, the New Hampshire Insurance Department said.

Medicare Advantage statewide enrollment is projected to decline overall by 18,104 people in 2027, according to the department.

Devoted Health is entering New Hampshire with six Medicare Advantage plans. It will only be available in Grafton, Hillsborough and Sullivan counties.

Open enrollment for Medicare, where people can make changes to their healthcare coverage, starts Thursday.
