If your pet takes certain compounded medications, here’s some important information. On October 21, the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) published a company announcement stating that Wedgewood Pharmacy LLC of Swedesboro, NJ, is recalling certain compounded veterinary medications due to “inconsistencies in the reliability of certain analytical testing data generated by their laboratory.”

That can imply that the medications may either not be potent enough to be effective or may be superpotent, which could cause overdose or drug toxicity. The medications are used to treat many different types of animals, from dogs and cats to horses and zoo animals. They are not intended for food-producing animals.

So far, Wedgewood has gotten 98 complaints about the product, and categorizes seven as serious.

Impacted products

The recalled medications include powders, pastes, oral suspensions, injectables, ophthalmic ointments and solutions, ear solutions and suspensions, topical sprays, and gels. They were shipped to pharmacies, veterinary practices, and additional consumers throughout the United States between February 18, 2026, and October 6, 2026.

Because the recall covers nearly 4,000 product listings, the company created a product lookup page to easily find impacted SKUs and lot numbers.

What to do next

If you find your pet’s medicine on the product page, contact your veterinarian, even if your pet isn’t experiencing any side effects.

Wedgewood says that owners who have any of the recalled products should stop using them, but do not throw them away. First, contact Wedgewood at 866-562-5931, Monday through Friday from 8 a.m. to 9 p.m. ET, and Saturday, 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. ET.

The company announcement also states that Wedgewood is working to help customers, veterinarians, and pet owners maintain continuity of care for animals who have been taking the recalled medications. Wedgewood will identify clinically appropriate alternatives where they’re available, and is working on this with a third-party company, Sedgwick.

To identify alternative treatment options, customers can contact Sedgwick by phone at 866-562-5931, Monday through Friday 8 a.m. to 9 p.m. ET, and Saturday from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. ET. Sedgwick will refer any clinical questions to Wedgewood’s care team, according to the company announcement.
