Jagruti Rehabilitation Centre, a mental health, addiction, and dementia care provider, has raised ₹28 crore in a series A funding round led by Alkemi Growth Capital.

Founded in 2008 by psychiatrist Dr. Amar Shinde and Vijaya Shinde, Jagruti has expanded into a network of more than 19 centres across nine cities, with over 1,600 beds and 40 doctors. The company has supported more than 82,000 individuals through its mental health, substance-use and neurological care programmes.

“This first institutional investment is an important milestone in Jagruti’s journey. When we started in 2008, our focus was on creating a space where individuals and families could access structured, compassionate and clinically guided care,” said Dr. Shinde.

The fresh capital will fund geographical expansion, additional clinical capacity, specialised care programmes, and deeper insurance and corporate partnerships. Jagruti aims to expand to more than 40 centres and 4,000 beds across tier I and tier II cities over the next three to four years.

Alka Goel, founder and managing partner of Alkemi Growth Capital, said, “Mental health is one of the largest and least institutionalised gaps in Indian healthcare.”

Alkemi’s healthcare portfolio includes diagnostics company Redcliffe Labs, emergency medical response provider Medulance, and Datar Cancer Genetics.
