Dan Anstey is joining the Today Show lineup and will serve as the breakfast program’s weather presenter and Weekend Today co-host.

The 41-year-old radio and TV personality, who currently helms Triple M Breakfast in Brisbane and presents the weather for Weekend Today, will move into the double role in 2027.

Today co-host Sylvia Jeffreys revealed the exciting news during Monday morning’s broadcast.

“We just heard that you resigned from Triple M about half an hour ago. So we thought, oh, he’ll do,” Jeffreys, 40, joked with Aussie viewers.

Anstey replied: “They were very happy to get rid of me, so I’m your problem now!”

The Aussie media star will host Today weather from Monday to Wednesday, and co-host Weekend Today on Saturdays and Sundays alongside Alison Piotrowski and Lizzie Pearl.

During Monday’s announcement, Anstey didn’t hold back when describing his relief now that he was moving away from his usual seven-day roster.

'Very sudden and unexpected': Sarah Abo's early Today show exit sparks speculation

“That’s been the issue of contention over the last five years, so nice to downgrade that slightly just to the regular old five days a week.”

Brisbane-based Anstey is set to relocate to Sydney for the role next year, with his wife, Claire, and children, Halle and August, accompanying him.

However, when discussing his family’s reaction to the big move, Anstey revealed that his children had been quick to blab about the top-secret decision.

“This news may have leaked a little bit early, and I think I know how… We told our kids, ‘We’re going to move to Sydney. It’s going to be really exciting, but you can’t tell anyone.'”

“My five-year-old Augie (August), he looked at me and went, ‘I got you, Dad. This stays put. [This is] not going anywhere.'”

However, the next day was “show and share” at his son’s daycare, and Anstey “forgot to give him something” for the presentation, so August improvised.

“He stood up in front of everyone and said, ‘Good morning, kindy. Me and my family are moving to Sydney. Any questions?'”

Soon, the cat was out of the bag and parents were calling Anstey’s wife to confirm whether the news was true.

'Shouldn't have had a drink': Channel 9 reporter apologises after viral Winter Olympics cross

It comes amid a massive shake-up to the Today Show’s lineup.

Last month, Danika Mason, 35, shocked Today fans, revealing she would be departing the breakfast show after a year and a half in the sports presenter role.

“I’m going on maternity leave as we probably are all aware, but I’ve had to make the decision as to what I do… when I come back next year,” she said.

“And obviously juggling all my NRL commitments, Today Show, and then a new baby as well, something had to give, so I’ve made the pretty tough decision. When I return next year, I won’t be coming back to the show.”

She was replaced by Michael Atkinson, who previously hosted Weekend Today.

Furthermore, the likes of Karl Stefanovic, Sarah Abo and Tim Davies have all left the show in the past year alone.
