Darth Vader’s iconic hallway scene from Rogue One: A Star Wars Story stands as one of the franchise’s most brutal moments, but all that is about to change with a new Vader tale. A special new prequel has just been unveiled to celebrate ten years of Rogue One that ups the stakes even higher.

Marvel Comics recently published the one-shot story Star Wars: Rogue One: Darth Vader on October 28, written by Christopher Condon and featuring art by Luke Ross. The story gives Vader a chilling new scene that showcases his power and connection to the dark side, and it’s clearly one designed to fit right alongside the legendary hallway scene from a decade ago. The vicious scene, which can be seen below, depicts Vader wielding all of his power without mercy, doing whatever must be done in order to achieve his ambitious goals for the Emperor.

Darth Vader’s New Rogue One Scene Shows the Brutal Side of the Star Wars Villain

The new Rogue One – Darth Vader one-shot story is canonical, and it gives Star Wars fans an even deeper look into Vader’s motivations when it comes to Rogue One’s story. Marvel’s solicit promises there’s plenty of character exploration: “Director Orson Krennic’s negotiations with the gem-rich planet of Harreld have hit a standstill. Its leader, Harqque, refuses to allow the Empire to mine its rare Kyber deposits for use in the Death Star’s deadly super-laser.”

All of these developments set Vader up for an unchecked reign of brutal terror. “But when the Emperor catches wind of Krennic’s failure, he sends his most trusted acolyte — Darth Vader — to pry the kyber from Harreld by any means necessary.”

The new scene from the Marvel comic feels right at home with the hallway scene from the Rogue One movie, which saw Vader slaughtering a squad of Rebel soldiers in a dark, red corridor in order to recover stolen Death Star plans. It remains one of Star Wars’ most memorable moments, one that truly transformed Vader from a classic villain into a more unsettling and unstoppable force of horror.

Marvel’s canon prequel to Rogue One comes ten years after the film made its theatrical debut back in 2016. It marked the first Star Wars anthology film and was a prequel to 1977’s original Star Wars, with Felicity Jones, Diego Luna, and Ben Mendelsohn starring. James Earl Jones reprised his role from previous films as the voice of Darth Vader.

The film proved to be a success with critics and fans, earning $1 billion worldwide and becoming the second-highest-grossing film of the year. It eventually led to Star Wars: Andor, another prequel installment, which aired on Disney+ from 2022 to 2025. Darth Vader’s new one-shot exploits are just the latest entry in the expanding Rogue One story.
