Elon Musk on Monday night unveiled \u201cGrokipedia,\u201d an online encyclopedia built entirely using AI-generated articles designed to take on Wikipedia, which Musk and his allies have claimed is biased and \u201cwoke.\u201d<\/p>\n

In a post on X<\/a>, Musk announced that \u201cversion 0.1\u201d of Grokipedia was now live and claimed \u201cVersion 1.0 will be 10X better, but even at 0.1 it\u2019s better than Wikipedia.\u201d<\/p>\n At launch, Grokipedia has over 885,000 articles compared to Wikipedia\u2019s 7 million, but while the crowd-sourced online encyclopedia uses human authors and editors, Musk\u2019s alternative is entirely composed of articles generated and \u201cfact-checked\u201d by xAI\u2019s Grok.<\/p>\n Grokipedia also does not allow its users to make any edits, but Musk said<\/a> users will be \u201cable to ask Grok to add\/modify\/delete articles and it will either take the action or tell you it won\u2019t and why.\u201d<\/p>\n In a separate X post<\/a>, Musk added that the goal of Grok and Grokipedia \u201cis the truth, the whole truth and nothing but the truth\u2026We will never be perfect, but we shall nonetheless strive towards that goal.\u201d<\/p>\n Does Grokipedia Include Articles From Wikipedia?<\/p>\n Several articles on Grokipedia include a disclaimer at the bottom, which reads: \u201cThe content is adapted from Wikipedia, licensed under Creative Commons Attribution-ShareAlike 4.0 License.\u201d Wikipedia\u2019s website already has an entry<\/a> on Grokipedia, which notes that \u201cMany articles are derived from Wikipedia articles, with some articles observed to be copied nearly verbatim.\u201d At the time of publishing, some articles on Grokipedia, such as those on the PlayStation 5<\/a>, automaker Lamborghini<\/a>, and chipmaker AMD<\/a>, appeared to be near-identical copies of the corresponding Wikipedia entries.
