The project comes from Mood creator and star <a href=\"https:\/\/deadline.com\/tag\/nicole-lecky\/\" id=\"auto-tag_nicole-lecky\" data-tag=\"nicole-lecky\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Nic\u00f4le Lecky<\/a>, Drew Comins\u2019 Creative Engine (Yellowjackets) and Fifth Season where the company is under a first-look deal. It is been developed via Netflix UK, with the writers room set up in London, I hear.<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/ lrv-u-margin-lr-auto     \">\n\tInspired by the 18th century French novel, Dangerous Liaisons is a modern-day reimagining set in 2025 London. A globe-trotting, heart-wrenching and scintillating erotic thriller, it is an unflinching exploration of power, wealth, race, romance amidst the unapologetic sexual appetites of the British ruling class and the new money elites.<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/ lrv-u-margin-lr-auto     \">\n\tLecky is the writer\/executive producer. The project was sold to Netflix preemptively several months ago with a writers room commitment, I hear.  <\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/ lrv-u-margin-lr-auto     \">\n\tA rep for Netflix declined comment. <\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/ lrv-u-margin-lr-auto     \">\n\tFor her work on her debut 2023 BBC series Mood, Lecky won two BAFTA Awards, including Best Miniseries. It was based on Lecky\u2019s one-woman play Superhoe, which she wrote and performed in at The Royal Court Theater. <\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/ lrv-u-margin-lr-auto     \">\n\tLecky has been on Netflix\u2019s radar, having won the Netflix New Talent Award in 2022. Her followup series for the BBC, thriller Wild Cherry, is set to debut in November.<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/ lrv-u-margin-lr-auto     \">\n\tAt Netflix, Creative Engine also has a series adaptation of Adam Silvera\u2019s bestselling YA novel They Both Die at the End, with Bridgerton creator Chris Van Dusen writing and Bad Bunny producing, as well as Lena Dunham\u2019s Covers through Netflix UK. <\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/ lrv-u-margin-lr-auto     \">\n\tOver the years, there have been numerous takes on Dangerous Liaisons in film and TV. Netflix released a French movie in 2022, a modern-day reinterpretation set in high school.
