The tech company attributed the decline to a nearly 30% drop in <a href=\"https:\/\/variety.com\/t\/xbox\/\" id=\"auto-tag_xbox\" data-tag=\"xbox\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Xbox<\/a> hardware sales \u201coffset in part by growth in Xbox content and services.\u201d<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/ lrv-u-margin-lr-auto  lrv-a-font-body-m   \">\n\tRevenue from Xbox content and services, which includes Xbox\u2019s Game Pass subscription service and sales of its first-party video games, was $5.5 billion for the July-September quarter, up 1% from the comparable period in 2024.<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/ lrv-u-margin-lr-auto  lrv-a-font-body-m   \">\n\tPer Microsoft, \u201cXbox hardware revenue decreased 29% driven by lower volume of consoles sold. The next time Microsoft reports earnings, those results should include details on sales for the recently launched handheld devices, <a href=\"https:\/\/variety.com\/2025\/gaming\/news\/xbox-ally-handheld-release-president-sarah-bond-interview-1236555575\/\" data-type=\"link\" data-id=\"https:\/\/variety.com\/2025\/gaming\/news\/xbox-ally-handheld-release-president-sarah-bond-interview-1236555575\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">ROG Xbox Ally and ROG Xbox Ally X<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/ lrv-u-margin-lr-auto  lrv-a-font-body-m   \">\n\tFor Microsoft\u2019s most recent quarter, which marks its first quarter of its fiscal year 2026, Wall Street forecast earnings per share (EPS) of $3.66 on $75.4 billion in revenue, according to analyst consensus data provided by LSEG.
