\n\tSharon Stone<\/a> was on hand for Variety\u2019s Power of Women LA event on Wednesday, set to present honors to Sydney Sweeney<\/a> as one of the evening\u2019s honorees. The two actresses have been working on \u201cEuphoria\u201d Season 3 for several months now, including after Sweeney faced controversy for featuring in an American Eagle<\/a> ad campaign in July. The commercials centered on the slogan \u201cSydney Sweeney Has Great Jeans,\u201d\u00a0a pun on \u201cgreat genes\u201d; it drew backlash from critics who alleged the ads glorified Sweeney\u2019s white heritage and physique.<\/p>\n

\n\t\u201cIt\u2019s okay to use what mama gave you. It\u2019s really fine,\u201d Stone told Variety senior entertainment writer Angelique Jackson on the carpet, voicing her support for Sweeney. \u201cIt\u2019s hard to be hot, and I think we all know that. It\u2019s really okay to use every bit of hotness you have \u2014 right here, right now \u2014 and go for whatever that is. Everybody has their own certain kind of hotness, their own certain thing, and you\u2019re supposed to go for that. Because who are you not to be beautiful? You know, who you are isn\u2019t an accident.\u201d<\/p>\n

\n\tStone recounted a conversation that she had with Sweeney as the \u201cgreat jeans\u201d controversy was taking hold, as the two actresses continued production on \u201cEuphoria.\u201d<\/p>\n

\n\t\u201cBecause I was co-godparents with Jane Goodall, I said, \u2018When Jane was on the cover of Life Magazine for her work with gorillas, she was in her safari shorts and shirt, sitting with one of the animals that she was working with. Other scientists said, \u2018Well, she only got the cover of Life Magazine because she had good legs.\u2019 And Jane said, \u2018Well, if I did, then that helped me get more money for my research,’\u201d Stone said. \u201cSydney said, \u2018Yeah, and I\u2019m sure I made a billion dollars for the jeans company, and I\u2019m good with that. Because, you know what? I\u2019ll get another job.’\u201d<\/p>\n

\n\tStone is a new addition to the ensemble for \u201cEuphoria\u201d Season 3, which will reportedly take place after a years-long time jump following the events of Season 2. Sweeney is reprising her role from the first two seasons, as are stars Zendaya, Jacob Elordi, Eric Dane, Alexa Demie, Maude Apatow, Colman Domingo and others. While Stone may be a series newcomer, she says she\u2019s been a longtime \u201cEuphoria\u201d fan. <\/p>\n

\n\t\u201cI had to watch it for the 67th time to get caught up again,\u201d Stone joked. \u201cIt was such a joy to go to work with these amazing young people.\u201d<\/p>\n

\n\tDirector Paul Feig, who worked with Sweeney on her upcoming thriller \u201cThe Housemaid,\u201d also offered his support for his star in her Power of Women Variety cover story<\/a>, calling the \u201cgreat jeans\u201d controversy \u201cmanufactured\u201d by \u201ca certain segment of the media [who] blew it up.\u201d<\/p>\n

\n\t\u201cShe\u2019s probably one of the most confident people I\u2019ve ever met in my life \u2014 in a good way. She\u2019s very savvy,\u201d Feig said.<\/p>\n
