It’s been over two months since Google launched its latest Pixel 10 series<\/a>, and our time with all the new devices has been nothing but pleasant. <\/p>\n

Yes, there have been bugs, but none truly broke the new device experience. The one that did spoil the experience was promptly fixed<\/a> within a day. However, there are two bugs that refuse to die. We’ve already reported on one, which is causing 911 calls to fail<\/a>. The other is also causing in-call problems, though it isn’t as serious as the 911 call failure issue.<\/p>\n

Highlighted by the folks over at PiunikaWeb<\/a>, Pixel users, especially those with new Pixel 10 series devices, have reported a persistent speakerphone button lag. <\/p>\n

Reports about the issue have made their way to platforms like Reddit<\/a> and Google’s support forum<\/a>, where users explained the core issue. The button to toggle the speakerphone on and off doesn’t work during calls. If it does, it is significantly delayed and sometimes requires users to tap the button several times. <\/p>\n

“I have a new pixel 10 pro XL and when on phone calls the speaker button to change from ear to sound speaker takes a few taps to respond,” wrote one user<\/a>, while a different user said<\/a> “pressing the speaker button does not work most of the time, whereas double-clicking the speaker button appears to be more reliable. This is frustrating, and I would appreciate it if Google could address this issue.”<\/p>\n

The issue appears to have carried over from the Pixel 9 series, with reports dating back to May 2025 highlighting the exact same issue. Some note that the issue could be tied to Google’s Phone app, and not the new devices themselves. This is because those dabbling with third-party calling apps suggest that the issue doesn’t translate over. Some also suggest that the issue disappears entirely when they toggle the speaker from the call notification shade instead of the full-screen in-call dialer.<\/p>\n

It’s worth noting that Google knows of the issue. An IssueTracker report<\/a> dated August 28th describes the problem, which Google later closed<\/a>, citing lack of “actionable information.” <\/p>\n

The bug detracts from the overall smooth Pixel experience.
