AN AMATEUR wildlife photographer has captured the first-ever image of a white Iberian Lynx.<\/p>\n
Angel Hidalgo, 29, from Jaen has been taking wildlife photos across Andalucia as a break from his job in a construction materials factory.<\/p>\n
He captured the image at an undisclosed location in the Jaen mountains on October 22 and described it as \u2018the white ghost of the Mediterranean forest\u2019.<\/p>\n

El jiennense \u00c1ngel Hidalgo, apasionado de la fotograf\u00eda de naturaleza, ha logrado una proeza \u00fanica en el mundo de la fauna ib\u00e9rica: captar en v\u00eddeo e imagen al\u2026 pic.twitter.com\/ujCKOV1W6E<\/a><\/p>\n \u2014 Hora Ja\u00e9n (@HoraJaen) October 28, 2025<\/a><\/p>\n The images were confirmed by Lynx Project specialists to be a historic find- the first white Iberian Lynx to be officially documented in Spain.<\/p>\n Angel Hidalgo said: \u201cI was checking one of my camera traps in a new place where I started tracking a few months ago and I observed something I couldn\u2019t believe.\u201d<\/p>\n \u201cFrom there I began to dedicate all the time I had to it, I had to see this wonder with my own eyes,\u201d he continued.<\/p>\n \u201cTime went by, hours, days, weeks and even months without success, even on many occasions on the verge of throwing in the towel.\u201d<\/p>\n Angel continued: \u201cOne bad morning after raining during the night, dawn broke and when walking, I suddenly in the distance saw a white lump that seemed to radiate its own light.\u201d<\/p>\n He said that when he saw the lynx with its snow-white winter fur and piercing eyes, he was \u2018paralysed\u2019 and \u2018couldn\u2019t believe what he saw\u2019.<\/p>\n Angel says he feels \u2018very fortunate to witness this moment\u2019 and added that his encounter with the white lynx \u2018was an unforgettable memory for me, and it made me think about the importance of nature and conservation\u2019<\/p>\n \u201cMay this long serve to inspire some to appreciate and protect the natural beauty of the world around us,\u201d he proclaimed.<\/p>\n Click here to read more Nature News<\/a> from The Olive Press.<\/p>\n
