Asia-Pacific markets opened mixed Monday, after Wall Street saw all three U.S. major indexes climb Friday stateside.<\/p>\n
Investors in Asia will be watching manufacturing activity figures out from China later today, as RatingDog publishes its purchasing managers index for October.<\/p>\n
Economists from Reuters expect the reading to come in at 50.9, slightly lower than September’s 51.2.<\/p>\n
The official PMI numbers<\/a> out of the National Bureau of Statistics showed that China’s manufacturing activity in October<\/a> shrunk to its lowest level in six months, coming in at 49.0.<\/p>\n Hong Kong’s Hang Seng index<\/a> futures were at 25,975, higher than the HSI’s last close of 25,906.65.<\/p>\n South Korea’s Kospi<\/a> was up 1.04%, while the small-cap Kosdaq gained 0.51% at its open.<\/p>\n Australia’s\u00a0S&P\/ASX 200<\/a> started the day 0.4% down.<\/p>\n The country’s central bank starts its two-day monetary policy meeting today, with economists expecting a hold from the Reserve Bank of Australia after inflation readings came in hotter than expected for the third quarter.<\/p>\n Japan’s markets are closed for a public holiday.<\/p>\n On Friday in the U.S., the tech-heavy Nasdaq Composite<\/a> advanced 0.61% at 23,724.96, while the S&P 500 gained 0.26% to reach 6,840.20.
