President Donald Trump<\/a> has set his sights on another late night host after trying and failing to drive Jimmy Kimmel<\/a> off the air.<\/p>\n

The 45th and now 47th president of the United States spent Saturday issuing various proclamations and provocations from his page on Truth Social, the X alternative Trump founded in 2021. Alongside Democratic Congressional representative Ilhan Omar, the Democratic party itself, and the government of Nigeria, Trump singled out Seth Meyers<\/a> for criticism.<\/p>\n

“Seth Meyers of NBC may be the least talented person to ‘perform’ live in the history of television. In fact, he may be the WORST to perform, live or otherwise,” Trump began his post, incorrectly stating that the pre-taped Late Night with Seth Meyers<\/a> is regularly broadcast live.<\/p>\n

Trump continued, “I watched his show the other night for the first time in years. In it he talked endlessly about electric catapults on aircraft carriers which I complain about as not being as good as much less expensive steam catapults. On and on he went, a truly deranged lunatic. Why does NBC waste its time and money on a guy like this??? \u2013 NO TALENT, NO RATINGS, 100% ANTI TRUMP, WHICH IS PROBABLY ILLEGAL!!!”<\/p>\n

Entertainment Weekly has reached out to representatives for Meyers and NBC for comment. A representative for the White House declined to comment.<\/p>\n

Trump’s catapult comments reference Thursday’s “A Closer Look” segment on Late Night, in which Meyers made light of an odd speech<\/a> the president gave aboard the U.S.S. George Washington on Tuesday.<\/p>\n

Among his meandering remarks, Trump spoke at length about updates to the elevator and catapult systems on a new fleet of ships. With particular regard to the catapults, Trump reiterated hesitations previously voiced in his first term that the new, electromagnetically powered catapult system may be vulnerable to compromise via water damage, which is untrue.<\/p>\n

“Instead of using hydraulic that can be hit by lightning and it’s fine, you take a little glass of water, you drop it on magnets, I don\u2019t know what’s going to happen,” he said.<\/p>\n

The president ultimately vowed that he would sign an executive order commanding that “when we build aircraft carriers, it’s steam for the catapults.”<\/p>\n

Meyers snarked in his “Closer Look” segment on the speech, “Guy spends more time thinking about catapults than Wile E. Coyote.”<\/p>\n

Trump’s retaliative criticism of Meyers carries more weight in light of the hammer his administration recently brought down on Meyers’ late-night colleague Jimmy Kimmel.<\/p>\n

The president celebrated<\/a> when CBS canceled The Late Show with Stephen Colbert in July, promising action against Jimmy Kimmel Live! that he shortly made good on.<\/p>\n

Following a comment about the Republican response to the killing of conservative activist Charlie Kirk in September, ABC pulled Live! from the airwaves for six days after immediate backlash from affiliate groups like Nexstar and Sinclair Broadcasting Group.<\/p>\n

The suspension was advocated by Trump’s FCC chair, Brendan Carr, and celebrated again<\/a> by Trump, who wrote on Truth Social at the time, “Great News for America: The ratings challenged Jimmy Kimmel Show is CANCELLED. Congratulations to ABC for finally having the courage to do what had to be done. Kimmel has ZERO talent, and worse ratings than even Colbert, if that’s possible.”<\/p>\n

Jimmy Kimmel Live! is currently back on the air and enjoyed a decade-high ratings spike<\/a> after the suspension.<\/p>\n
