Something has changed for \u201cWicked\u201d star Jonathan Bailey,<\/a> something is not the same \u2014 he is People magazine\u2019s Sexiest Man Alive<\/a> for 2025.<\/p>\n

The magazine\u2019s pick was announced Monday night on \u201cThe Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon.\u201d Bailey takes the mantle from \u201cThe Office\u201d and \u201cJack Ryan\u201d star John Krasinski<\/a>, who was the 2024 selection.<\/p>\n

\u201cIt\u2019s a huge honor,\u201d Bailey, 37, told the magazine. \u201cObviously, I\u2019m incredibly flattered. And it\u2019s completely absurd.\u201d<\/p>\n

Bailey had audiences swooning as Prince Fiyero in his 2024 big-screen debut in \u201cWicked,\u201d the popular movie musical in which he proudly urges fellow students to join him in his shallowness. The second half arrives in theaters Nov. 21.<\/p>\n

He dripped with charm as Lord Anthony Bridgerton on Netflix\u2019s \u201cBridgerton,\u201d and earned a 2024 Emmy nomination for his role in the Showtime series \u201cFellow Travelers.\u201d Most recently, he starred in \u201cJurassic World Rebirth,\u201d<\/a> which came out in July.<\/p>\n

Bailey told Fallon that the title was an \u201chonor of a lifetime.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cI\u2019m sort of thrilled that People magazine have invited someone in \u2014 bestowed this honor on someone who can really cherish the value of a sexy man,” he said.<\/p>\n

Bailey told People<\/a> that he\u2019s known he wanted to be an actor since he was 5 years old and his grandmother took him to see a production of the musical \u201cOliver!\u201d Within two years he had achieved that dream, performing with the Royal Shakespeare Company.<\/p>\n

He\u2019s had plenty of stage credits since then, including starring in Shakespeare\u2019s Richard II in London earlier this year.<\/p>\n

Bailey, who has spoken openly about being a gay actor, founded The Shameless Fund, which helps to support LGBTQ+ organizations.<\/p>\n

\u201cI know the LGBT sector is under immense threat at the moment,\u201d he said. \u201cSo it\u2019s been amazing to meet people who have the expertise and see potential that I could have only dreamed of.\u201d<\/p>\n

The first Sexiest Man Alive was Mel Gibson in 1985. Other past recipients include Brad Pitt, George Clooney, John F. Kennedy Jr., David Beckham, Michael B. Jordan, John Legend, Dwayne Johnson, Paul Rudd, Pierce Brosnan and Patrick Dempsey.<\/a><\/p>\n

Bailey, who will be the cover story in People\u2019s edition coming out Friday, had to stay tight-lipped about the news. But he admitted to the magazine that he couldn\u2019t keep it a complete secret \u2014 he shared the news with his dog, Benson, who will also be featured in the magazine.<\/p>\n
