\n\tTaiwan Creative Content Agency<\/a> (TAICCA<\/a>) signed a pair of MoUs (memorandum of understanding) with two separate companies on the second day of Taiwan Creative Content Fest<\/a> (TCCF<\/a>) \u2013 Japan\u2019s K2 Pictures and Taiwanese games industry investor Lunta Ventures.<\/p>\n

\n\tThe MOU with K2 Pictures outlines future cooperation across co-production, co-financing and the strategic deployment of production funding, \u201cwith the aim of\u00a0\u00a0boosting the global visibility of Taiwanese film and TV productions\u201d, according to a TAICCA statement. \u00a0\u00a0<\/p>\n

\n\tLaunched in May 2024, K2 Pictures is working with major Japanese filmmakers including Shunji Iwai and Hirokazu Kore-eda on a slate of projects to be financed through a film fund, breaking with Japan\u2019s less flexible production committee method of financing films.\u00a0<\/p>\n

\n\tThe signing ceremony at TCCF was attended by TAICCA president Min-Huei Wang and K2 Pictures founder and chairman Muneyuki Kii.\u00a0<\/p>\n

\n\t\u201cI presented here a year ago, and since then our company has been fully engaged in film production,\u201d said Kii. \u201cIt is an honor to sign this MOU with TAICCA today. We plan to shoot in Taiwan and collaborate with local talent. We hope to bring outstanding Asian cinema to audiences around the world.\u201d<\/p>\n

\n\tTAICCA vice president Hu Ting-Li said: \u201cTaiwan\u2019s film and television productions continue to gain international attention, and the strength of Taiwan-Japan cultural ties is widely recognized. We look forward to establishing new frameworks for Taiwan-Japan co-productions.\u201d<\/p>\n

\n\tMeanwhile, TAICCA\u2019s MOU with Lunta Ventures, a Taiwan-based VC firm focused on the games industry, is for a joint initiative to establish the \u2018Digital Games Fund\u2019.\u00a0<\/p>\n

\n\tThe fund aims to support original game projects from the R&D phase with early-stage capital, offering Taiwanese development teams stable financial backing and professional guidance to transform their ideas into internationally competitive original IPs.\u00a0<\/p>\n

\n\t\u201cWe\u2019ve found that venture capital in Taiwan is usually reluctant to invest in smaller studios, so we\u2019re bucking the trend and helping smaller creators by providing the first cheque,\u201d said Lunta Ventures chairman Meng-Kung Hsieh at the signing ceremony. \u201cWe want to elevate Taiwan\u2019s games industry so we all have more games to enjoy. With TAICCA on board we can make this happen.\u201d\u00a0<\/p>\n

\n\tTAICCA collaborates with companies in Taiwan and overseas to find different ways to strengthen the Taiwanese content ecosystem, either by supporting projects and international co-productions or in some cases by taking equity positions in local companies.\u00a0<\/p>\n

\n\tThe government-based content agency is signing two more MOUs at TCCF tomorrow \u2013 with Japan\u2019s largest book distributor Tohan and with South Korean webtoon production company Contents Lab Blue.
