Charli XCX<\/a> has revealed she is \u201cexploring a lot of stuff with strings\u201d for her next album.<\/p>\n

The popstar appeared on Gwyneth Paltrow<\/a>\u2018s Goop\u00a0podcast, where she gave an update on what her music might sound like post-\u2018Brat<\/a>\u2018.<\/p>\n

When Paltrow asked Charli whether she might make music \u201csuper stripped back\u201d, she responded: \u201cYeah, I\u2019m a really big Lou Reed<\/a> fan, he\u2019s kind of my guy. I\u2019ve definitely thought about that.<\/p>\n

\u201cI really like to work in contrast,\u201d she continued. \u201cI think whatever I do next will just inherently be different to \u2018Brat\u2019 because that\u2019s what feels natural.\u201d Charli went on to reveal that she was currently \u201cexploring a lot of stuff with strings at the moment, which I\u2019m really enjoying,\u201d adding: \u201cI haven\u2019t really worked in that space before\u201d.<\/p>\n

Charli has previously hinted at the sound of her next album, sharing in May that she\u2019s expecting her next album to go in a completely different direction<\/a>: \u201cYou can never really do the same thing twice and my next record will probably be a flop which I\u2019m down for to be honest.\u201d<\/p>\n

Though we don\u2019t know when her next album may arrive, the singer is confirmed to have written original songs<\/a> for Emerald Fennell\u2019s Wuthering Heights.\u00a0She additionally shared in 2023 that she was working with Jack Antonoff to write songs<\/a> for upcoming A24 film Mother Mary.<\/p>\n

Outside of music, Charli has kickstarted her career in film by playing a comedic version of herself in the TV show Overcompensating. <\/a>She has also taken a lead role in Pete Ohs\u2019 Erupcja<\/a>, and starred in 100 Nights Of Hero,<\/a> which closed this year\u2019s London Film Festival.<\/p>\n

Charli is also set to appear in the adventure-comedy Sacrifice\u00a0alongside\u00a0Anya Taylor-Joy<\/a>\u00a0and\u00a0Chris Evans<\/a>,\u00a0the upcoming erotic thriller\u00a0I Want Your Sex<\/a> alongside Olivia Wilde and Cooper Hoffman, and\u00a0Dakota Johnson\u2019s first film as director<\/a>.<\/p>\n

She will also produce and star in<\/a> her upcoming A24 \u201cmockumentary\u201d The Moment<\/a> that \u201cfollows the life of a pop star in the lead-up to her first headline arena tour\u201d.<\/p>\n
