Journey have announced details of a long-rumored Final Frontier <a href=\"https:\/\/www.rollingstone.com\/music\/music-news\/journey-jonathan-cain-leave-band-one-more-tour-1235445237\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">farewell tour<\/a> that will take them all across North America next year.<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/ lrv-u-line-height-copy  lrv-a-font-body-l   \">\n\tThe first legs kicks off Feb. 28 in Hershey, Pennsylvania, and wraps up July 2 in Laredo, Texas. There are 60 dates on the books, mostly in secondary and tertiary markets, and more will be announced in the future.<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/ lrv-u-line-height-copy  lrv-a-font-body-l   \">\n\t\u201cThis tour is our heartfelt thank-you to the fans who\u2019ve been with us every step of the way \u2014 through every song, every era, every high and low,\u201d Journey founder Neal Schon says in a statment. \u201cWe\u2019re pulling out all the stops with a brand-new production \u2014 the hits, the deep cuts, the energy, the spectacle. It\u2019s a full-circle celebration of the music that\u2019s brought us all together.\u201d<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/ lrv-u-line-height-copy  lrv-a-font-body-l   \">\n\t\u201cAs its founding member, I carry the Journey torch to this day, wherever I go,\u201d he continues. \u201cThe sentiment and spirit of the band will always remain. While this marks a farewell to one powerful chapter of the Journey we\u2019ve shared, I want everyone to know I\u2019m not done. Music is still burning strong inside me, and there are new creative horizons ahead. This tour is both a thank-you and the beginning of what\u2019s next.\u201d<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/ lrv-u-line-height-copy  lrv-a-font-body-l   \">\n\tLongtime keyboardist Jonathan Cain echoed the sentiment: \u201cIt\u2019s been an incredible ride. We\u2019ve shared our music with millions and this tour is about gratitude, connection and one last chance to feel that magic together. We wouldn\u2019t want it any other way.\u201d<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/ lrv-u-line-height-copy  lrv-a-font-body-l   \">\n\tThey\u2019ll be joined once again by singer Arnel Pineda, who has been delivering Steve Perry\u2019s vocal parts since joining the band in 2007. \u201cI\u2019m honored to be part of this legacy and I\u2019m grateful for having been welcomed with such open arms,\u201d he says in a statement. \u201cEvery night on stage has been a dream come true.\u201d<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/ lrv-u-line-height-copy  lrv-a-font-body-l   \">\n\tSchon, Cain, and Pineda will be accompanied by keyboardist\/singer Jason Derlatka, drummer\/singer Deen Castronovo, and bassist Todd Jensen.<\/p>\n<p>\t\tEditor\u2019s picks<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/ lrv-u-line-height-copy  lrv-a-font-body-l   \">\n\tA press release promises an \u201call new, special evening with stage production across North America with their catalog of global chart-topping hits, including \u2018Don\u2019t Stop Believin\u2019, \u2018Any Way You Want It,\u2019 \u2018Faithfully,\u2019 \u2018Lights,\u2019 and more in a celebration of legacy, love and the fans who made it all possible.\u201d<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/ lrv-u-line-height-copy  lrv-a-font-body-l   \">\n\tJourney went on an extended hiatus in 1987 when <a href=\"https:\/\/www.rollingstone.com\/music\/music-features\/steve-perry-talks-comeback-album-traces-journey-dont-stop-believin-733144\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Perry decided to walk away from public life.<\/a> They briefly reformed in 1996 to record the comeback LP Trial by Fire, but they parted ways with Perry before they were able to tour behind it. In 1998, they reconvened with <a href=\"https:\/\/www.rollingstone.com\/music\/music-features\/journey-singer-steve-augeri-interview-1358450\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">new vocalist Steven Augeri<\/a> and slowly rebuilt their audience with a relentless tour schedule. Augeri left the band in 2006, and was briefly replaced with Jeff Scott Soto, but everything changed when Schon discovered Pineda singing Journey covers on YouTube. He\u2019s been in the band for the past 18 years.<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/ lrv-u-line-height-copy  lrv-a-font-body-l   \">\n\tAlong the way, there\u2019s been a <a href=\"https:\/\/www.rollingstone.com\/music\/music-news\/journey-jonathan-cain-neal-schon-credit-card-lawsuit-1234635997\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">fair amount of discord<\/a> between Schon and Cain that played out in legal filings, social media posts, and interviews. There was also a protracted legal battle with the classic-era rhythm section of <a href=\"https:\/\/www.rollingstone.com\/music\/music-features\/journey-dont-stop-believin-ross-valory-interview-1234985192\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Ross Valory<\/a> and Steve Smith following <a href=\"https:\/\/www.rollingstone.com\/music\/music-news\/journey-fire-ross-valory-steve-smith-lawsuit-962246\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">their dismissal from the band in 2020.<\/a><\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/ lrv-u-line-height-copy  lrv-a-font-body-l   \">\n\tDespite all the bad blood and the many lineup changes, Journey continued to tour, often on bills with fellow Eighties survivors like Def Leppard, Heart, and Toto.
