Santiago Calatrava<\/a> has completed Haus zum Falken, a sculptural, mixed-use building in Zurich<\/a>, Switzerland<\/a> described as \u201can artistic event in the city\u201d.<\/p>\n

The structure was designed to seamlessly integrate with Stadelhofen Station, a fellow Calatrava-designed transit<\/a> hub and city landmark. Haus zum Falken aims to increase connectivity throughout the metro area.\u00a0<\/p>\n

It offers greater connectivity between Stadelhofen Station and a network of surrounding public<\/a> spaces. The structure\u2019s design also allows for a new public square at the front of the building, as well as 800 underground bike spaces spread across a three-level underground station and bright, light-filled interiors.<\/p>\n

Behind the building\u2019s meandering glass fa\u00e7ade are a four-story atrium and staircase that connect an assemblage of adaptable, column-free spaces.\u00a0<\/p>\n

Haus zum Falken rises from a solid stone plinth into sculpted walls that stretch upwards. Subtle stone details extend toward the lower edges of the fa\u00e7ade. In addition, the main entrances are framed by tall, slender stone pillars.<\/p>\n
