Ivermectin among products seized by Health Canada from Kelowna store<\/p>\n

Health Canada has seized a range of unauthorized health products from a Kelowna business whose owner claimed the products were \u201chealing cancer.\u201d<\/p>\n
In a statement to Black Press Media on Wednesday (Nov. 5), Health Canada confirmed that it inspected Ezra Healing, located at 100-2041 Harvey Ave. in Kelowna, on Oct. 30 in response to allegations of non-compliance with the Food and Drugs Act and Regulations.<\/p>\n
During the inspection, Health Canada seized a range of unauthorized health products, including unauthorized prescription drugs such as ivermectin, mebendazole, hydroxychloroquine and azithromycin. The owner of the business, Svetlana Rilkoff, took to social media during the inspection to say that Health Canada wanted to \u201ctake away all of my ivermectin that\u2019s healing cancer and vaccine injuries.\u201d<\/p>\n
Rilkoff\u2019s Facebook describes herself as a registered nurse for 20 years, turned wellness advocate.<\/p>\n
She posted a news release the day after the inspection, claiming approximately $200,000 worth of products were seized.<\/p>\n
Health Canada issued a public advisory Thursday that said to \u201cimmediately stop using any products obtained from Ezra Healing\u201d and to consult a licensed health-care professional if you have used the products and have health concerns.<\/p>\n
The advisory lists the seized products, which include:<\/p>\n
\u2022 Aziell-250 \u2013 labelled to contain azithromycin<\/p>\n
\u2022 Doxy-Tab and Doxytop-100 \u2013 both labelled to contain doxycycline<\/p>\n
\u2022 Hqcheal 200 \u2013 labelled to contain hydroxychloroquine<\/p>\n
\u2022 Ezra VIT I, Iverheal Cream 1%, Iverhuman 12, Iversun-12, Vit-I 1% and Vit-I \u2013 all labelled to contain ivermectin<\/p>\n
\u2022 VIT-M \u2013 labelled to contain mebendazole<\/p>\n
\u2022 Niclobest 500 \u2013 labelled to contain niclosamide<\/p>\n
\u2022 Testoheal gel \u2013 labelled to contain testosterone<\/p>\n
\u2022 Ezra D3 and Sunforce Vitamin D3 60K \u2013 both labelled to contain vitamin D3 (prescription level)<\/p>\n
The advisory added that the products may contain high-risk ingredients, such as prescription or controlled drugs, and additives or contaminants that may or may not be listed on the label. As well, the level of active ingredients could be higher or lower than claimed.<\/p>\n
Health Canada added in the statement that \u201cselling unauthorized products or making false or misleading claims to prevent, treat, or cure illnesses is illegal in Canada.\u201d<\/p>\n
A 2021 public advisory from Health Canada says that ivermectin \u2013 veterinary or human versions \u2013 is not authorized to prevent or treat COVID-19 and may cause serious health problems. The advisory was updated Oct. 19, 2021, following reports to poison centres regarding ivermectin being used as a prevention or treatment for COVID-19.<\/p>\n
The advisory added that while ivermectin was authorized by Health Canada for human use as a prescription antiparasitic drug for the treatment of parasitic worm infections, there is \u201cno evidence that ivermectin works to prevent or treat COVID-19.\u201d<\/p>\n
Ivermectin is also not listed on Health Canada\u2019s webpage for cancer therapies.<\/p>\n
Health Canada said it \u201cactively monitors\u201d compliance and receives information from a variety of sources, including consumers, health-care professionals, businesses and company notifications about recalls or incidents. It can also be alerted to issues through referrals from federal or provincial regulatory bodies, input from international regulatory partners and information published in media reports.<\/p>\n
