\n\tLONDON<\/a> \u2013 Rei Kawakubo<\/a>, Adrian Joffe<\/a> and Dickon Bowden<\/a> will be recognized for their work at the groundbreaking retailer Dover Street Market<\/a> during the Fashion Awards at London\u2019s Royal Albert Hall on Dec. 1.<\/p>\n

\n\tThe trio will receive the Isabella Blow Award for Fashion Creator following \u201ctheir incredible contribution to the global fashion industry,\u201d according to the British Fashion Council.<\/p>\n

\n\tThe BFC added that Dover Street Market<\/a> \u201ccontinues to shape the global conversation\u201d through its locations and various concepts in London<\/a>, Tokyo, New York City, Singapore, Beijing, Los Angeles and Paris.<\/p>\n

\n\tThe concept store and luxury marketplace opened on London\u2019s Dover Street in 2004 and later moved to Haymarket, near Piccadilly Circus. It is a destination space known for innovation and experimentation, and is flourishing in a difficult retail environment. <\/p>\n

\n\tDSM supports emerging talent and established brands, and looks at fashion through the lens of wider culture, with cross-disciplinary collaborations and thought-provoking displays that blend art, fashion and design. <\/p>\n

\n\tThe BFC said Kawakubo, creative director of Comme des Gar\u00e7ons and co-founder of DSM, \u201chas greatly influenced the contemporary fashion industry with her revolutionary designs, and shaped the conceptual foundation of DSM.\u201d<\/p>\n

\n\tJoffe, president of Comme des Gar\u00e7ons International and CEO and co-founder of DSM, has been \u201cinstrumental in the brand curation and evolution\u201d of the store\u2019s concept over time, the BFC added. \u00a0<\/p>\n

\n\tIt described Bowden, vice president of DSM, as a \u201cguiding force\u201d in the company\u2019s international expansion.<\/p>\n

\n\tLaura Weir,<\/a> CEO of the BFC, said the trio deserved the award for their \u201csteadfast commitment to innovation, support for emerging talent and dedication to building an authentic creative community. They continue to influence the industry and challenge wider fashion discourse.\u201d<\/p>\n

\n\tThe Isabella Blow Award for Fashion Creator recognizes innovators who bring \u201cdesigners\u2019 creations to life and help create worlds within brands.\u201d<\/p>\n

\n\tPrevious winners include Tyler Mitchell, Campbell Addy, Edward Enninful, IB Kamara, Katie Grand, Amanda Harlech, Mert & Marcus, Nick Knight, Pat McGrath, Professor Louise Wilson and Sam McKnight.<\/p>\n

\t\t\t\t\tDover Street Parfums Market in Paris, a standalone concept.<\/p>\n

\n\tOther winners on the night will include Delphine Arnault<\/a>, who will receive a Special Recognition Award for her \u201cexceptional contribution\u201d to the global fashion industry, and \u201clongstanding commitment to championing emerging talent.\u201d<\/p>\n

\n\tItalian fashion designer and entrepreneur Brunello Cucinelli<\/a> will receive the Outstanding Achievement Award, which is earmarked for those who have consistently shaped and reshaped the fashion world with their creativity. <\/p>\n

\n\tPrevious recipients of that award include Tom Ford, Valentino Garavani, Giorgio Armani, Miuccia Prada, Ralph Lauren, Karl Lagerfeld and Yvon Chouinard of Patagonia.<\/p>\n

\n\tThe annual Fashion Awards event is a key fundraiser for the BFC Foundation, and the money goes towards supporting students and fashion talent through a variety of programs. <\/p>\n

\n\tThe BFC Foundation offers four talent prizes: the BFC\/Vogue Designer Fashion Fund; the BFC\/GQ Designer Fashion Fund; BFC Newgen; and the BFC Fashion Trust.<\/p>\n
