\n\tThe Glasgow Film Festival<\/a> has unveiled the first films for its 2026 edition, taking place\u00a0Feb. 25-March 8, including a retrospective program under the theme \u201cTruth to Power\u201d and a country focus on Sweden.<\/p>\n

The \u201cTruth to Power\u201d retrospective will feature 10 classics from the 1930s to the\u00a0present day \u201cthat stand as cinematic statements of resistance, or feature characters that rise\u00a0against the machines of power,\u201d organizers said. Highlights from the program include the Stanley Kubrick-directed\u00a0satire Dr Strangelove\u00a0(1964), starring Peter Sellers, Oscar-nominated civil rights epic\u00a0Selma\u00a0(2014) from director\u00a0Ava DuVernay, and the 50th anniversary of political thriller\u00a0All\u00a0the President\u2019s Men\u00a0(1976), following the journalists who broke the Watergate\u00a0scandal and starring and produced by Robert Redford<\/a>.<\/p>\n

The lineup will also include In the Name of the Father\u00a0(1993), starring\u00a0Daniel Day-Lewis<\/a>, Erin Brockovich\u00a0(2000), and The\u00a0Battle of Algiers\u00a0(1966), a recreation of Algeria\u2019s 1950s battle for independence from\u00a0France.\u00a0<\/p>\n

GFF26 will be the 22nd edition of the festival and will also put a spotlight on films from Sweden under the country focus theme \u201cTake a Chance on Me: Swedish Cinema.\u201d <\/p>\n

\n\tThe selection will\u00a0include the U.K. premieres of political satire\u00a0Eagles of the Republic<\/a>\u00a0about an adored Egyptian actor who takes the lead role in a major\u00a0government propaganda film, horror film\u00a0The Home, in which strange events unfold after the\u00a0protagonist takes his mother into a care facility for dementia; and sci-fi\u00a0movie Egghead Republic, set in an alternative reality where the Cold War didn\u2019t end. \u00a0<\/p>\n

The Sweden program will also include the U.K. premiere of drama\u00a0Live a Little,\u00a0which follows \u201ca young woman\u2019s\u00a0exploration of her boundaries on an interrailing trip after she wakes up in a man\u2019s bed with\u00a0no memory of the night before,\u201d and the Scottish premiere of Redoubt,\u00a0about a farmhand who builds a fortress in his home during the Cold War.\u00a0<\/p>\n
