Promotion:<\/a> eight different microphones, bone-conducting technology, and AI-powered noise cancellation come together in the latest wireless headphones<\/a> by tech company Nothing<\/a>.<\/p>\n

Released alongside the company’s Nothing Phone (3)<\/a> in September, the earbuds were designed to offer improved audio quality for calls and voice notes, while an upgraded 12-millimetre dynamic driver ensures cleaner sound.<\/p>\n

Ear (3) promises to “redefine in-ear audio”, combining Nothing<\/a>‘s signature transparent aesthetic with sleek metal detailing.<\/p>\n

“We took everything we’ve learned so far about sound, design, and the touches that matter to people, and distilled it into a pair of category-defying buds that are mightier and even more striking than before,” the company said.<\/p>\n

A key feature that distinguishes the earbuds from their predecessors is the “Super Mic” integrated into the charging case for making calls or voice notes in a noisy environment.<\/p>\n

Users can bring the case up to their mouth like an external microphone and activate it using the “talk” button.<\/p>\n

Integrated ambient filtering technology cuts through the surrounding noise of up to 95 decibels \u2013 equivalent to a jackhammer going off 15 metres away.<\/p>\n

The two microphones housed in the case add to the three directional microphones in each bud, for a grand total of eight.<\/p>\n

A bone-conduction Voice Pick-up Unit inside the headphones further enhances call clarity by detecting micro-vibrations from the jaw and ear canal, and converting them into electrical signals for precise voice pickup.<\/p>\n

“Because bone-conducted signals are far less affected by wind and environmental noise, the system is better at differentiating between your speech and all other noise, keeping your voice clear at the source,” Nothing explained.<\/p>\n

Combined with an AI-powered environmental noise-cancellation system, which adjusts to the user’s surroundings every 600 milliseconds, this allows the earbuds to achieve wind noise reduction levels of over 45 decibels \u2013 even without the Super Mic.<\/p>\n

An upgraded 12 millimetre dynamic driver provides rich, natural sound thanks to its patterned surface, while a 20 per cent larger radiating area ensures better bass and treble response.<\/p>\n

There’s also a low-latency mode that reduces end-to-end delay to under 120 milliseconds, keeping audio and visuals in sync when gaming or watching videos.<\/p>\n

\"HandMetal accents introduce a new design language for Nothing<\/p>\n

Each bud houses a 55 milliampere-hour battery for up to 10 hours of listening without the wireless charging case and 38 hours with it. For emergencies, a rapid USB-C charge can provide up to 10 hours of playback in just 10 minutes.<\/p>\n

For Nothing Phone users, any voice notes recorded using the “talk” button will automatically be transcribed, and the headphones can also be used to speak directly to ChatGPT<\/a>.<\/p>\n

\"EarThe earbuds were released in September<\/p>\n

Ear (3) marks the first time that Nothing is integrating metal into its product language, with recycled aluminium detailing found in both the earbuds and the case.<\/p>\n

“Nano injection moulding fuses metal and plastic, removing the need for glue and achieving tight tolerances for a seamless, compact unibody,” the company said.<\/p>\n
