The health network went on to say that they have thousands of job openings and that they are actively hiring.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Corewell Health would not share the exact number of positions eliminated nor which department was impacted.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>13 ON YOUR SIDE spoke with a Corewell Health employee who said they were impacted by the layoffs. This person wanted to remain anonymous.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>This source said 12 to 20 employees in the communications department were laid off, and the source said they believe it&#8217;s due to the<a href=\"https:\/\/www.wzzm13.com\/article\/news\/local\/mha-weighs-potential-medicaid-cuts-on-michigan-hospitals\/69-22627dd2-a26e-4f21-b4a3-78ba7dec557b\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer nofollow\">\u00a0federal cuts to Medicare and Medicaid.\u00a0<\/a><\/p>\n<p>One person in Grand Rapids was not laid off, according to this now former employee.<\/p>\n<p>Communication departments at hospital networks are responsible for internal and external messaging that supports employees, patients, and the public. They also manage media relations, crisis communication, and internal storytelling.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>The healthcare network is Michigan&#8217;s largest hospital system.
