AMD\u2019s stock jumped by more than 9% on Wednesday after CEO Lisa Su said revenue could grow 35% annually over the next five years, as Su anticipates a \u201cnew era of growth\u201d for the chipmaker while it positions itself in what she said could become a $1 trillion market. <\/p>\n

Shares of AMD soared 9.5% to around $260 as of noon Wednesday, rebounding from a 2% slump in the previous trading session.<\/p>\n

Su said<\/a> during AMD\u2019s financial analyst day event in New York on Tuesday that the market for the company\u2019s data center chips could rise to $1 trillion by 2030, largely driven by \u201cinsatiable\u201d demand for AI chips, and that AMD could achieve a \u201cdouble-digit\u201d share in the data center market over the next three to five years.<\/p>\n

AMD\u2019s overall revenue growth could expand to roughly 35% annually over the same period, finance chief Jean Hu said, with earnings projected to rise to $20 a share.<\/p>\n

Goldman Sachs analysts wrote they believed Su\u2019s projections for AMD\u2019s growth are possible, but only if the chipmaker grows in scale, keeps costs from increasing too quickly and makes more profit from each sale. <\/p>\n

Bernstein analyst Stacy Rasgon called AMD\u2019s targets \u201csomewhat aggressive,\u201d however, and questioned whether AMD could compete for a larger market share as \u201cthe jury remains out on that, but management is clearly going on the offense with the narrative.\u201d<\/p>\n

Su, who holds roughly 4.7 million AMD shares, had her net worth increase by $123 million (7.9%) to $1.7 billion on the chipmaker\u2019s stock jump.<\/p>\n
