SUNGAI PETANI – A teacher in Malaysia encountered a 60kg reticulated python after it fell through her bathroom ceiling in Taman Bandar Baru in Kedah on Nov 12. <\/p>\n
She said her 15-year-old daughter first noticed the broken part of the bathroom ceiling at about 4pm after returning from school and felt too scared to use the bathroom.<\/p>\n
\u201cI was in a meeting at the time when my daughter sent me a photo of the ceiling that had collapsed. When I got home, I checked the bathroom and saw what looked like a piece of batik cloth sticking out of the broken ceiling.<\/p>\n
\u201cI wondered how the batik cloth could end up there. My daughter then zoomed in with her phone camera and that\u2019s when we realised it was actually part of a snake\u2019s body,\u201d she said as reported by Sinar Harian.<\/p>\n
She contacted the Civil Defence Force (APM) for help in removing the reptile, only to realise its massive size when it fell from the ceiling.<\/p>\n
\u201cWhen the python was pulled out and dropped down, I was shocked by how huge it was. I thought it was an ordinary snake at first\u2026 I\u2019ve never seen a snake that big right in front of me. It was so massive that I screamed \u2018anaconda\u2019,\u201d she said.<\/p>\n
She added that the family was fortunate to have discovered it early, saying she could not imagine what would have happened if such a large snake had made its way into the house.<\/p>\n
She believes the python may have entered through a soursop tree behind the house, having noticed a toppled flower pot two days earlier.<\/p>\n
\u201cThis is the first time a snake has entered the house. There\u2019s a swampy area behind the property, so it may have come from there. I had to wash the floor and carpet because there was a strong musky smell,\u201d she said.<\/p>\n
The incident left her and her two children traumatised, and they are now extra cautious each time they use the bathroom. THE STAR\/ASIA NEWS NETWORK<\/p>\n
