{"id":138672,"date":"2025-11-17T21:45:08","date_gmt":"2025-11-17T21:45:08","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/il\/138672\/"},"modified":"2025-11-17T21:45:08","modified_gmt":"2025-11-17T21:45:08","slug":"landmark-gift-establishes-sanford-black-hills-medical-center","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/il\/138672\/","title":{"rendered":"Landmark gift establishes Sanford Black Hills Medical Center"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Sanford Health announced today another landmark gift from the world\u2019s greatest health care philanthropist that will transform health care in western South Dakota and the Black Hills region for generations to come.<\/p>\n<p>Denny Sanford has made a $300 million philanthropic gift to Sanford Health to help establish the Sanford Black Hills Medical Center campus in Rapid City, South Dakota.<\/p>\n<p>The new state-of-the-art medical center campus will expand access to specialty care and services including an emergency department, ICU, oncology center, comprehensive women\u2019s health including a labor and delivery unit, and children\u2019s services.<\/p>\n<p>Since 2004, Mr. Sanford has given nearly $2 billion to Sanford Health. His philanthropic gifts have transformed health care across the region, touched the lives of millions and will continue to benefit the communities we serve for generations to come,\u201d said <a href=\"https:\/\/news.sanfordhealth.org\/author\/bill-gassen\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Bill Gassen<\/a>, president and CEO of Sanford Health. \u201cWe are honored to carry forward his remarkable legacy in the Black Hills.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThis is a momentous day for patients and residents in the Black Hills,\u201d said Lew Papendick, M.D., board chair of the Sanford Black Hills Surgical Hospital. \u201cThe new Sanford Black Hills Medical Center campus will attract even more exceptional physicians\u00a0in a wide variety of specialties\u00a0to the region and bring advanced care closer to home for our community.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Plans for Rapid City campus<\/p>\n<p>The campus will be located in southwest Rapid City, adjacent to the Black Hills Orthopedic and Spine Center. Construction is scheduled to begin in 2027 with completion expected by 2030.<\/p>\n<p>The proposed 480,000-square-feet Sanford Black Hills Medical Center campus will include:<\/p>\n<p>168 inpatient beds<br \/>\nFuture campus expansion for additional 168 beds<br \/>\nEmergency department bays<br \/>\nSurgical suites and procedure rooms<br \/>\nCath labs<br \/>\nFull inpatient and outpatient imaging suites<br \/>\nDialysis center<br \/>\nOncology infusion center<br \/>\nChildren\u2019s outpatient and inpatient services<\/p>\n<p>Investing in medical education<\/p>\n<p>Starting in 2026, Sanford Health intends to invest $10 million over the next decade to partner with K-12 schools, technical colleges and universities across the Black Hills including:<\/p>\n<p>$2.5 million: Expand the Aspire program to foster students\u2019 interest in health care and provide hands-on learning opportunities for more than 13,000 K-12 students<br \/>\n$3 million: Invest in Build Dakota to support in-demand technical education<br \/>\n$4.5 million: Expand sponsorships at regional post-secondary educational institutions<\/p>\n<p>\u201cBuilding a robust and sustainable health care workforce begins with education,\u201d said Kyle Wiese, president and CEO of the Sanford Black Hills region. \u201cThese investments empower local students to pursue\u00a0careers in health care, ensuring the next generation of caregivers is rooted in the communities we serve.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Caring for the Black Hills region<\/p>\n<p>Today\u2019s announcement further cements Sanford Health\u2019s commitment to the Black Hills region.
