Webb took inspiration from Lee McQueen\u2014specifically his fall 2006 collection, The Widows of Culloden<\/a>; spring 2007, Sarabande<\/a>; and Irere<\/a>, spring 2003\u2014and creative director Se\u00e1n McGirr\u2019s spring 2025 collection. \u201cIt was a perfect reference for the symbiotic merge of power and vulnerability, which is what I wanted to encapsulate for this look,\u201d she adds.<\/p>\n

All of Roan\u2019s outfits on this tour can be broken down into three looks, distinct for each act. For this show, she began in a long, high-neck dress with an enormous floral headpiece and veil teetering atop her signature red hair. She then changed into a shorter dress, before her final two-piece set\u2014all fashioned in the same white tattered lace with beaded embellishments. \u201cThe costume was to be inspired by early-20th-century brassieres, combined with 18th-century medical corsets and braces, which is consistent with the push and pull of feminine softness and rage,\u201d Webb adds.<\/p>\n

\u201cThe headpiece was one of the last things finalized because I wanted it to be as striking as the antler headpieces from The Widows of Culloden collection,\u201d Webb says. \u201cThe team had offered to reference the headpiece with veil from the Sarabande show.\u201d<\/p>\n

Roan was a bit nervous to take the stage in the headpiece. \u201cI hadn\u2019t worn a veil yet on stage and I was quite nervous because the headpiece beneath it was not super secure,\u201d she says. \u201cAs I was descending the stairs, I was like, \u2018Oh my God, please don\u2019t fall, please don\u2019t fall, please, God.\u2019\u201d<\/p>\n

Webb also had moments of apprehension. \u201cThe scariest part of this was coffee-staining the look before the show myself,\u201d she says. “It felt sinfully wrong, but of all the great designers to live, I feel Lee McQueen would have enjoyed the initiative\u2014and maybe the panic.\u201d<\/p>\n
