Claire Danes<\/a> is sharing the \u201cfunny shame\u201d she felt after her most recent pregnancy. <\/p>\n

The \u201cHomeland\u201d actor, who has three children with husband Hugh Dancy, spoke about her \u201coopsie-daisy third baby\u201d during an appearance on the \u201cSmartless\u201d podcast<\/a> on Monday. <\/p>\n

\u201cI was so old when that happened. I was 44,\u201d Danes told hosts Jason Bateman, Will Arnett and Sean Hayes.<\/p>\n

\u201cI didn\u2019t think it was possible \u2015 I really didn\u2019t,\u201d she said with a laugh. \u201cI was terrified, but it all was OK.\u201d <\/p>\n

When Arnett asked Danes what it was like finding out she was pregnant at that stage in life, she answered that it \u201cwas actually really interesting.\u201d <\/p>\n

\u201cBecause I did not foresee this at all. And it was weird. Suddenly I felt like a funny shame,\u201d the actor said. \u201cI was naughty. Like, I had been caught, like, fornicating past the point I was meant to.\u201d <\/p>\n

The experience of getting pregnant later in life was both \u201cweird\u201d and \u201cwild\u201d because, to Danes, it was like \u201cgoing outside of the parameters a bit.\u201d <\/p>\n

Danes and Dancy also share two other children, who are both boys: Cyrus, who will turn 13 in December, and Rowan, 7. <\/p>\n

\u201cIt\u2019s a trip. I mean, I have a teenager and a toddler,\u201d Danes said, adding that she \u201cgot really, really lucky\u201d that her last little one is a girl. <\/p>\n

\u201cMy OBGYN was like, \u2018You know, you\u2019re having another boy.\u2019 But no, turns out,\u201d she said, despite adding that she still \u201cwould have been delighted\u201d to have a third boy. <\/p>\n

Danes has always been very open about pregnancy and motherhood, and has called being a mom \u201cincredibly challenging\u201d before<\/a>. <\/p>\n

\u201cBut, we still feel a pressure to talk about it in very romantic terms,\u201d she said in an interview with Harper\u2019s Bazaar UK<\/a> in 2014. \u201cWe all have that resentment at times and anxiety about being trapped by the role, that responsibility. And, then chemically it can run riot, and there\u2019s no \u2018off\u2019 button.\u201d <\/p>\n

She described that part of parenting as \u201cthe hardest adjustment\u201d<\/a> for her.<\/p>\n
