Fresh after being nominated for eviction for the second week in a row, Big Brother<\/a>\u2019s oldest housemate fired up at her co-stars<\/a> in Tuesday night\u2019s episode. Jane, the self-proclaimed \u2018groovy granny\u2019, called a meeting with MMA fighter Colin<\/a>, barber Vinnie, and tradie Bruce to criticise the trio for farting too often in the house.<\/p>\n

While the boys, who are aged in their 20s, acknowledged the 67-year-old’s complaint was \u201cfair enough\u201d, they hit back when Jane accused them of \u201cdisrespecting women\u201d. This marks the second time she has admitted to feeling \u201cdisrespected\u201d in the Big Brother house after she slammed Colin and model Holly for kissing under a blanket in the bedroom.<\/p>\n

\u201cI just have a thing with disrespecting women,\u201d she said.<\/p>\n

\u201cI don\u2019t want to hear people farting in my face \u2014 some things are inappropriate, and I just think you need to be a little bit more respectful towards, maybe women.”<\/p>\n

Vinnie, who has relatively stayed out of the drama so far in the house, asserted that he and his friends \u201call have respect towards people, women, men, whoever\u201d.<\/p>\n

He said it wasn\u2019t fair for Jane to be so accusatory, regardless of her age and \u201clife experience\u201d, and the argument quickly escalated.<\/p>\n

\u201cAs a woman, I felt disrespected,\u201d she continued.<\/p>\n

\u201cThe way you have behaved towards me, as a woman, I find disrespectful.\u201d<\/p>\n

Conversation around disrespect opens up generational divide<\/p>\n

Viewers felt that the way Jane and the trio of men debated respect and disrespect for women revealed how different generations felt about the issue.<\/p>\n

Several thought that Vinnie, Colin, and Bruce might not be able to relate to the 67-year-old’s concerns simply because they were Gen Z and she’s a Baby Boomer.<\/p>\n

“I understand where she’s coming from, but I can tell you now, none of them will understand her point by their response \u2014 different generations, so sad, but she’s right,” wrote one person.<\/p>\n

“I feel like she was trying to make a point about old school values, but I can\u2019t prove it,” added another.<\/p>\n

A third said: “Why is it so easy for that generation to give feedback, but they are incapable of receiving it?<\/p>\n

Another said this is exactly what Big Brother is all about.<\/p>\n

“Does she understand it is a social experiment and instead of telling people what they did was wrong, try to understand them. ‘AS PEOPLE’ we all are different. More understanding, less ‘this is the way society taught us,'” they wrote.<\/p>\n

Viewers applaud show’s wild edit<\/p>\n

Although viewers had previously criticised this season of Big Brother for incorporating background music and unusual edits that deviated from the original format<\/a>, many were thrilled when the show flashed back to a previous conversation Jane had in the house.<\/p>\n

She was shown sitting by the pool on her second day, telling her co-stars that she \u201ccannot stand\u201d when people begin arguments with \u201cas a woman\u201d, rather than just stating their point on their own behalf.<\/p>\n

It was an awkward flashback for Jane, considering she said “as a woman” during her conversation with Vinnie, Colin, and Bruce.<\/p>\n

\u201cThis is a great edit from the Big Brother team,\u201d one person commented.<\/p>\n

\u201cThe throwback to when she says she doesn\u2019t like when people say \u2018as a woman\u2019\u2026 just after she\u2019s said \u2018as a woman\u2019 was pretty brutal BB,\u201d another wrote.<\/p>\n

Jane storms off<\/p>\n

\u2018Fartgate\u2019 came to an end when Colin argued that farting next to Holly was very different to farting directly on her, and Jane stormed off when she wasn\u2019t feeling heard.<\/p>\n

\u201cOn your bike,\u201d Bruce told her as she walked away.<\/p>\n

\u201cI\u2019m not getting on my bike. That is a perfect example,\u201d Jane replied.<\/p>\n

\u201cYou just disrespected us and then you try and gaslight it into being a thing against women,\u201d Colin said.<\/p>\n

The women of the house quickly rallied around Jane when she sought their support; however, many viewers appear to have sided with the boys.<\/p>\n

\u201cAs a woman, I think Jane has to go,\u201d one person commented.<\/p>\n

\u201cI\u2019ve actually never seen someone with so little disrespect, the way she went about that was appalling,\u201d another added.<\/p>\n

\u201cI feel like those boys held a fairly respectable conversation here. They were being gaslit by her. They couldn\u2019t finish a sentence and she stormed off when she didn\u2019t like that the conversation wasn\u2019t going her way,\u201d someone else replied.<\/p>\n
