A mosquito in Los Angeles County has tested positive for dengue, the first detection of the virus in an Aedes mosquito in the state, officials said.<\/p>\n
The mosquito was found in a surveillance trap in Sun Valley, the Greater Los Angeles County Vector Control District said in a news release.<\/p>\n
\u201cThe District is working collaboratively with the Los Angeles County Department of Public Health to deploy targeted mosquito control measures aimed at reducing the risk of disease transmission,\u201d the release explained.<\/p>\n
At least seven cases of locally acquired dengue, a viral illness<\/a> that can be fatal, have been reported in L.A.
