{"id":146283,"date":"2025-11-22T01:07:07","date_gmt":"2025-11-22T01:07:07","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/il\/146283\/"},"modified":"2025-11-22T01:07:07","modified_gmt":"2025-11-22T01:07:07","slug":"lena-dunham-too-much-netflix-tv-show-not-getting-season-2","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/il\/146283\/","title":{"rendered":"Lena Dunham Too Much Netflix TV Show Not Getting Season 2"},"content":{"rendered":"<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/  a-font-body-m     \">\n\tIt seems one season was just enough for <a href=\"https:\/\/www.hollywoodreporter.com\/t\/netflix\/\" id=\"auto-tag_netflix_1\" data-tag=\"netflix\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Netflix<\/a>\u2018s <a href=\"https:\/\/www.hollywoodreporter.com\/t\/too-much\/\" id=\"auto-tag_too-much_1\" data-tag=\"too-much\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Too Much<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/  a-font-body-m     \">\n\tThe <a href=\"https:\/\/www.hollywoodreporter.com\/t\/lena-dunham\/\" id=\"auto-tag_lena-dunham_1\" data-tag=\"lena-dunham\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Lena Dunham<\/a> romantic comedy series won\u2019t be returning to Netflix for season two, according to reports and comments from Dunham at an FYC panel last week, where she said that <a href=\"https:\/\/www.hollywoodreporter.com\/tv\/tv-reviews\/too-much-review-lena-dunham-megan-stalter-netflix-1236310295\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener nofollow\">Too Much<\/a> was envisioned as more of a limited series.<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/  a-font-body-m     \">\n\tDunham co-created the 10-episode TV show that premiered over the summer with her husband Luis Felber, with Dunham and Felber\u2019s own love story serving as the loose inspiration for <a href=\"https:\/\/www.hollywoodreporter.com\/t\/megan-stalter\/\" id=\"auto-tag_megan-stalter_1\" data-tag=\"megan-stalter\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Megan Stalter<\/a> and <a href=\"https:\/\/www.hollywoodreporter.com\/t\/will-sharpe\/\" id=\"auto-tag_will-sharpe_1\" data-tag=\"will-sharpe\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Will Sharpe<\/a>\u2018s characters\u2019 romance. The Girls alum met and wed Felber in the U.K., where she\u2019s been living for the past few years.<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/  a-font-body-m     \">\n\tThe series, which was one of Dunham\u2019s biggest small-screen creations since <a href=\"https:\/\/www.hollywoodreporter.com\/tv\/tv-news\/girls-series-finale-explained-lena-dunham-jenni-konner-mom-hannah-breastfeeding-grover-mar-994325\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener nofollow\">Girls ended in early 2017<\/a>, followed Stalter\u2019s Jessica who moves to London from New York after a bad breakup, where she meets Sharpe\u2019s Felix, a musician and \u201cwalking series of red flags,\u201d as Netflix\u2019s synopsis describes him. Despite those concerns, the two quickly fall in love and (spoiler alert) end the first season (and the series) getting married.<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/  a-font-body-m     \">\n\tWhile the show has been called \u201csemi-autobiographical,\u201d Dunham said it was more of the \u201cgerm\u201d of the series that was based on her and Felber\u2019s romance.<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/  a-font-body-m     \">\n\t\u201cA girl moves to England. She meets a musician. They fall in love. That was the exoskeleton. But then he\u2019s such an amazing and creative thinker and loves stories, and so it really expanded far beyond what we had even dreamed it could be into a totally different world,\u201d Dunham <a href=\"https:\/\/www.hollywoodreporter.com\/tv\/tv-news\/lena-dunham-netflix-show-too-much-husband-true-story-1236295606\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener nofollow\">told The Hollywood Reporter ahead of a Tribeca Festival Too Much event in New York<\/a> a month before the show premiered. \u201cWe feel really, really lucky that we got to do this together, and then of course the actors come in and the characters become different because the actors have taken over. So while the germ of it may be autobiographical, it\u2019s gone in directions I never could\u2019ve dreamed.\u201d<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/  a-font-body-m     \">\n\tAt last week\u2019s FYC panel, Dunham said,  \u201cOur intention was always to make Too Much as a limited series. It was meant to feel like a classic transatlantic love story but with time to really dig into the complexities that a film doesn\u2019t have the space for.\u201d<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/  a-font-body-m     \">\n\tShe added, of the temptations of a season two, \u201cOf course I fell fully in love with Meg and Will\u2019s dynamic and started imagining what the rest of their characters\u2019 lives together could look like \u2013 Felix and Jess have a baby! Felix and Jess are on the first ship to populate Mars! But as Luis and I sat with what we made, we realized we had told the story. It ends with a wedding. There\u2019s even a little Easter egg, which is that within the final scene you can hear me yell \u2018cut!\u2019 We had done what we needed to do, and part of the job is knowing when to park it.\u201d<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/  a-font-body-m     \">\n\tStill, she said she\u2019d be open to revisiting Jessica and Felix in the future.<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/  a-font-body-m     \">\n\t\u201cWho knows \u2014 maybe there will be a time down the line when it feels right to check in on them again,\u201d she said. \u201cBut right now I\u2019m pulling a Mary Poppins and heading on to the next (imaginary) family that needs me.\u201d<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/  a-font-body-m     \">\n\tWhen <a href=\"https:\/\/www.hollywoodreporter.com\/tv\/tv-features\/lena-dunham-too-much-finale-season-2-interview-1236315610\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener nofollow\">THR asked Dunham about a possible season two<\/a> shortly after season one of Too Much began streaming, Dunham had ideas for the characters\u2019 futures but wasn\u2019t actively planning another installment.<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/  a-font-body-m     \">\n\t\u201cIn terms of the second season, we\u2019re not there yet,\u201d she told THR at the time. \u201cBut when I think about where these characters would go, when Luis and I talk about it, what we\u2019re really thinking about is that marriage is not the end of a love story \u2014 it\u2019s the beginning. And especially with two characters who don\u2019t know each other well and who feel like they have because of this kind of radical intimacy they\u2019ve experienced, they actually haven\u2019t dealt with an enormous amount of life as a team. So [we\u2019d be] looking at what happens when two people make the decision to be together and then are thrust into the reality of each other\u2019s worlds. \u2026 There\u2019s so much that they skipped over \u2014 and some of that is taken from our [real] life, some of it isn\u2019t. \u2026 But I think that [it\u2019s interesting] to get to see something that we often don\u2019t get to see in romantic comedy films, which is: What happens after the kiss at the end, after the curtain is drawn, and how do these people behave?\u2019 \u201d<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/  a-font-body-m     \">\n\tThe finale also ends with Felix, immediately after the wedding, joking to Jessica, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.hollywoodreporter.com\/tv\/tv-features\/too-much-finale-megan-stalter-will-sharpe-season-2-1236312231\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener nofollow\">\u201cHow long do you wanna stay married?\u201d<\/a><\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/  a-font-body-m     \">\n\tDunham served as writer-director for Too Much and executive produced alongside her Good Thing Going Production company partner Michael P. Cohen as well as Working Title\u2019s Tim Bevan, Eric Fellner and Surian Fletcher-Jones and Bruce Eric Kaplan.<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/  a-font-body-m     \">\n\tIn addition to Stalter and Sharpe, the series\u2019 cast included Michael Zegan, Janicza Bravo, Richard E. Grant, Leo Reich, Daisy Bevan, Adele Exarchopoulos, Dean-Charles Chapman, Rita Wilson, Naomi Watts, Prasanna Puwanarajah, Andrew Rannells, Rhea Perlman, Emily Ratajkowski, Stephen Fry, Kaori Momoi and Adwoa Aboah.<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/  a-font-body-m     \">\n\tDunham\u2019s Good Thing Going <a href=\"https:\/\/www.hollywoodreporter.com\/tv\/tv-news\/lena-dunham-netflix-deal-series-too-much-will-sharpe-1236120490\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener nofollow\">has a deal with Netflix<\/a>, and she spent the summer in New York filming <a href=\"https:\/\/www.hollywoodreporter.com\/movies\/movie-news\/mark-ruffalo-role-model-natalie-portman-good-sex-rom-com-1236221442\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener nofollow\">a romantic-comedy movie for the streamer called Good Sex<\/a>, starring Natalie Portman, Mark Ruffalo and Role Model.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"It seems one season was just enough for Netflix\u2018s Too Much.
