Hilary Duff\u2019s musical renaissance is in full swing \u2014 and it\u2019s a millennial dream come true. On Friday, the Younger star announced the release date of her upcoming album, Luck\u2026 or Something, her first LP in over a decade.<\/p>\n
Duff revealed the news in an Instagram post<\/a>, writing, \u201cmy new album luck … or something is out on feb 20th \u2728 so much love, late night anxiety and a little chaos went into making this album – hoping you see yourself in here the way I have \ud83e\udea9\ud83c\udf52 I love you and excited is the largest understatement.\u201d<\/p>\n Duff\u2019s announcement comes two weeks after she dropped \u201cMature,\u201d<\/a> her first new song in 10 years. The track, she previously explained, \u201cspeaks to my mature self calling my not so mature self on the phone many years ago\u201d to discuss \u201ca brief time with a lover that left me with so many questions.\u201d<\/p>\n \u201cShe\u2019s letting her know we landed softly,\u201d Duff said of her wiser, more mature self.<\/p>\n Luck\u2026 or Something marks Duff\u2019s first full-length album since 2015\u2019s Breathe In. Breathe Out. The album, Duff\u2019s fifth overall, featured the lead single, \u201cSparks,\u201d which was her latest track before \u201cMature.\u201d Despite its failure to generate \u201cmajor success,\u201d Duff said there was \u201cstill some work on the record that felt authentic.<\/a>\u201d<\/p>\n That Duff is releasing a new album doesn\u2019t come as a surprise to fans. The Come Clean singer has shared photos of herself in the studio<\/a> with her husband, music producer Matthew Koma, with whom she collaborated on Breathe In. Breathe Out. In September, Koma confirmed Duff\u2019s plans to drop a new album when he shared a touching Instagram tribute for her 38th birthday.<\/p>\n \u201cWorking on your album with you this year, on your terms, framed how it works for you, has been the f***ing best and I can\u2019t wait for the world to hear what it sounds like when you get to speak directly to your people without anything or anyone standing in the way,\u201d he wrote on Instagram<\/a>. \u201cI\u2019ll be cheering front row (not actually cause Ticketmaster has this new queue system so probably more like row 6), but I\u2019ll be there.\u201d<\/p>\n With Luck\u2026 or Something, Duff is delivering on her promise of \u201cnew music \u2026 or something.<\/a>\u201d After all, her musical renaissance was always in the cards.<\/p>\n \u201cIt was always going to happen,\u201d Duff said on an episode of Jake Shane\u2019s Therapuss podcast<\/a>. \u201cThere\u2019s no way that that was not going to be a part of my story.\u201d<\/p>\n
