Totilo asked the company if it was skipping this year after it failed to publish a report from October to early November like it had done so the previous years. \u201cWe are not doing a traditional report this year as we\u2019ve evolved beyond that to formats that are more dynamic and accessible \u2014 stories, videos, and insights that show inclusion in action,\u201d said Microsoft\u2019s chief communications officer, Frank Shaw, in a statement. \u201cOur mission and commitment to our culture and values remain unchanged: empowering every person and organization to achieve more.\u201d<\/p>\n<p class=\"col-body mb-4 leading-7 text-[18px] md:leading-8 break-words min-w-0 charcoal-color\">As Totilo notes, the Trump administration made it very clear early on that it was against government and corporate diversity, equality and inclusion programs. Trump <a class=\"link \" href=\"https:\/\/corpgov.law.harvard.edu\/2025\/02\/10\/president-trump-acts-to-roll-back-dei-initiatives\/\" data-i13n=\"cpos:3;pos:1\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\" data-ylk=\"slk:signed executive orders;cpos:3;pos:1;elm:context_link;itc:0;sec:content-canvas\">signed executive orders<\/a> directing government agencies to roll back DEI initiatives and encouraged the private sector to do the same. <a class=\"link \" href=\"https:\/\/www.engadget.com\/big-tech\/metas-right-wing-reinvention-also-includes-an-end-to-dei-programs-and-trans-messenger-themes-204031848.html\" data-i13n=\"cpos:4;pos:1\" data-ylk=\"slk:Meta;cpos:4;pos:1;elm:context_link;itc:0;sec:content-canvas\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Meta<\/a> reportedly ended its DEI programs earlier this year, while <a class=\"link \" href=\"https:\/\/www.engadget.com\/big-tech\/google-is-reportedly-changing-course-on-its-diversity-initiatives-too-223644402.html\" data-i13n=\"cpos:5;pos:1\" data-ylk=\"slk:Google;cpos:5;pos:1;elm:context_link;itc:0;sec:content-canvas\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Google<\/a> reportedly announced that it will \u201cno longer set hiring targets to improve representation in its workforce.\u201d<\/p>\n<p class=\"col-body mb-4 leading-7 text-[18px] md:leading-8 break-words min-w-0 charcoal-color\">Totilo previously reported that Microsoft didn\u2019t mention anything about its diversity programs in two shareholder reports for 2025, signifying that the company wasn\u2019t highlighting its DEI initiatives anymore like it did the previous years. Based on its statement, Microsoft isn\u2019t completely dropping its DEI efforts.
