And as a result, we\u2019ve seen a largely minimal impact and no injuries. As a result, Wurrumiyanga experienced the greatest brunt of Cyclone Fina and Darwin expect winds of up to 109 kilometers an hour. So it\u2019s understandable that there is damage. Wurrumiyanga is likely to have longer periods of power outages. And so principals have now been asked to go and visit their school. We\u2019re on the case and working to get you back online ASAP.<\/p>\n<p class=\"dcr-130mj7b\">For some locations in Darwin and surrounds such as Humpty Doo, Weddell, Fly Creek, Daly, Berry Springs and Mcminns Lagoon, Telstra states the estimated restoration won\u2019t be until 7:30 pm on Tuesday.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"mailto:?subject=Standoff looms for final week of parliament as Coalition holds out on nature laws \u2013 as it happened&amp;body=https:\/\/www.theguardian.com\/australia-news\/live\/2025\/nov\/23\/severe-tropical-cyclone-fina-darwin-nt-bom-cop30-fossil-fuel-transition-g20-climate-declaration-ntwnfb?CMP=share_btn_url&amp;page=with%3Ablock-692260df8f08943ed37a415e#block-692260df8f08943ed37a415e\" type=\"button\" class=\"dcr-1mulgdf\">Share<\/a><\/p>\n<p>Updated at\u00a021.06 EST<\/p>\n<p>Coalition not signing up to EPBC changes yet<img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/il\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/11\/1763879828_796_Josh_Butler.png\" alt=\"Josh Butler\" class=\"dcr-lysqes\"\/>Josh Butler<\/p>\n<p class=\"dcr-130mj7b\">James Paterson also said the Coalition would not support the government\u2019s environmental laws in their current form, setting up a major standoff in the last week of parliament.<\/p>\n<p class=\"dcr-130mj7b\">As we brought you earlier, the Greens are still hesitating in backing the laws, saying they don\u2019t do enough to protect the environment and would pave the way for new fossil fuel projects. Paterson, the shadow finance minister, says the opposition is still not signing up either. He told Sky:<\/p>\n<p>Where it stands today, we certainly couldn\u2019t support the proposed legislation. It is deficient in a number of areas, and the business community has been very vocal about that.<\/p>\n<p class=\"dcr-130mj7b\">Paterson said the Coalition was still sticking to its previous position of seeking seven changes to the legislation, in line with what the business community has requested.<\/p>\n<p>So the ball is in the government\u2019s court. If they\u2019re willing to compromise, if they\u2019re willing to deal with the concerns of the business community, then we are up for acting in a bipartisan way in the national interest.
