Sheeran has had the same number since he was 15, and has more than 10,000 contacts who would just text him all the time. In a 2024 interview with Therapuss with Jake Shane, the \u2018Shape of You\u2019 singer claimed that he couldn\u2019t exchange his numbers with him, as he currently doesn\u2019t use one. However, he could share his email address. If the singer feels like using a phone, his team gives him one for temporary use when he has any events or wants to be active on social media. \u201cBut it\u2019s not like an active working phone,\u201d he added. <\/p>\n

It was 2015, when Sheeran just decided not to have a phone at altogether. \u201cI feel like with phones, everyone expects you to reply, and if you don\u2019t reply, it\u2019s rude. Sometimes you\u2019re just not in a headspace to reply, you\u2019re busy or doing whatever, but then you reply, then they reply back\u2026 and suddenly you\u2019re in like 40 conversations at once,\u201d he said in the podcast.<\/p>\n

While his way of communicating might be limited to emails, he also limits that by using or checking the mail box once or twice a week. \u201cOn a Thursday or Friday, I sit down, usually in the car. I blast all the emails. Catch up. Do all the talking to whoever… and that\u2019s it,\u201d the \u2018Symmetry\u2019 singer said. Other than people not expecting him to reply fast, the other benefit is being bored \u2013 the time when he gets his song ideas. \u201cNothing creative has ever come out of being connected the whole time,\u201d Ed Sheeran concluded.
