\n\tRupert Grint<\/a> recently told the BBC<\/a> that he wrote new Ron Weasley<\/a> actor Alastair Stout<\/a>\u00a0a letter before the child actor started production on HBO\u2019s \u201cHarry Potter<\/a>\u201d television series. Grint played Ron in the eight-film \u201cHarry Potter\u201d franchise from 2001 to 2011. HBO\u2019s series reboot will feature Stout as Ron opposite fellow newcomers Dominic McLaughlin as Harry and Arabella Stanton as Hermione.<\/p>\n

\n\t\u201cI wrote him a letter before they started, passing the baton as it were,\u201d Grint said. \u201cIt was really just wishing him all the best with it. I had so much fun stepping into this world, and I hope he has the same experience\u2026 It\u2019s quite strange to have the cycle happening again. I\u2019m really intrigued what it\u2019s going to be like.\u201d<\/p>\n

\n\tGrint acknowledged there\u2019s \u201ca bit of family resemblance\u201d between himself and Stout, adding: \u201cI think it\u2019s great that it\u2019s a whole new thing. It\u2019s going to be its own thing, and I think that will be fun.\u201d<\/p>\n

\n\tDaniel Radcliffe, who played Harry Potter in the movie franchise, similarly reached out to the actor taking over his iconic role. Radcliffe said on \u201cGood Morning America\u201d<\/a> earlier this month that he wrote a letter to McLaughlin and got a \u201cvery sweet note back.\u201d<\/p>\n

\n\t\u201cI don\u2019t want to be a specter in the life of these children but I just wanted to write to him to say, \u2018I hope you have the best time, and an even better time than I did \u2014 I had a great time, but I hope you have an even better time,\u2019\u201d Radcliffe explained. \u201cAnd I do, I just see these pictures of him and the other kids and I just want to hug them. They just seem so young. I just look at them and say, \u2018Oh, it\u2019s crazy I was doing that at that age.\u2019 But it\u2019s also incredibly sweet and I hope they\u2019re having a great time.\u201d<\/p>\n

\n\tGrint told the BBC<\/a> that even with a new \u201cHarry Potter\u201d adaptation on the way, he\u2019ll still \u201cnever step out of Ron Weasley\u2019s shadow.\u201d<\/p>\n

\n\t\u201cI\u2019m fine with that. I think it\u2019s great,\u201d he said. \u201cI love meeting people who really felt this was part of their childhood\u2026 It has a quite deep meaning to a lot of people of my generation, and even more to generations who are finding it now. It\u2019s great. It gives me a lot of pride. It was such a huge thing. I don\u2019t think I\u2019ll ever quite step out of his shadow, but I\u2019m fine with that.\u201d<\/p>\n

\n\tPlus, Grint has always been an advocate for new actors to take over the franchise. Speaking to GQ Magazine UK<\/a>\u00a0in July 2023 before HBO announced its \u201cHarry Potter\u201d series reboot, Grint encouraged someone else to play Ron Weasley and added: \u201cI\u2019d love to see\u00a0\u2018Harry Potter\u2019\u00a0be adapted into a\u00a0TV show. I think it would really work. I\u2019m sure the films will get remade, anyway.\u201d<\/p>\n
