The late-night vet praised Seth Meyers in a new video when the topic of Donald Trump making Meyers his newest target emerged. \u201cThe president of the United States now wants to fire Seth Meyers,\u201d Letterman said. \u201cAnd I thought, \u2018This is just delightful. How do you think that\u2019s going to go? So anyway, I\u2019ve never been more proud of Seth Meyers.\u201d<\/p>\n
Meyers is the latest late-night host to ruffle Trump\u2019s feathers, following the president\u2019s social media rants against Jimmy Kimmel and Stephen Colbert\u2014both of whom had their shows taken off the air in the aftermath, although Kimmel\u2019s suspension was brief. Letterman defended both hosts at the height of their showdowns, and he was equally passionate about supporting Meyers.<\/p>\n
\u201cBut just remember, Seth, things happen,\u201d Letterman added. \u201cYou know what I\u2019m saying?\u201d<\/p>\n

Trump wrote on Truth Social that Meyers \u201cmay be the least talented person to \u2018perform\u2019 live in the history of television\u2026 In fact, he may be the WORST to perform, live or otherwise.\u201d He added, \u201cWhy does NBC waste its time and money on a guy like this???\u201d and questioned whether legal intervention should come into play over the host\u2019s jokes about him. He wrote, \u201cNO TALENT, NO RATINGS, 100% ANTI TRUMP, WHICH IS PROBABLY ILLEGAL!!!\u201d <\/p>\n
Trump was incensed after a Late Night segment in which Meyers had declared, \u201cIf anyone dares to say anything less than glowing, Trump loses his s–t.\u201d The president responded by essentially doing just that. <\/p>\n
Previous blow-ups over Meyers\u2019 show included Trump\u2019s string of insults against the host in January, when he called him \u201cMarble Mouth Meyers\u201d and \u201cmerely a slot filler for the Scum that runs Comcast.\u201d<\/p>\n
