In an exclusive interview for\u00a0PEOPLE StyleWatch’s holiday cover<\/a>\u00a0published on Monday, Nov. 24, the “Beautiful Things” singer, 28, spoke about her connection with the “I Got Better” performer, 32.<\/p>\n “I think Morgan is great and his new album [I’m the Problem] is great,” says Moroney. “Him and I are still friends.”<\/p>\n Taylor Hill\/WireImage; Brett Carlsen\/Getty<\/p>\n Megan Moroney in November 2025 in Nashville; Morgan Wallen in December 2024 in Nashville<\/p>\n The “6 Months Later” performer also discussed how “being honest” in her songwriting is what has helped her career.<\/p>\n “I never let the possibility that people might speculate who [a song] is about, stop me from writing about how this situation made me feel,” says Moroney.<\/p>\n Fans were quick to link Moroney to Wallen after the “Am I Okay?” performer released\u00a0her smash hit \u201cTennessee Orange”<\/a> in 2022\u00a0after the two started commenting on each other\u2019s Instagram posts.<\/p>\n The following year, Wallen also dropped a song called “Tennessee Fan.”<\/p>\n In a 2022\u00a0interview with SiriusXM\u2019s\u00a0The Highway<\/a>, Moroney confirmed the Vols shirt she wore in the promotional art for “Tennessee Orange” did belong to Wallen.<\/p>\n \u201cThe Highway\u00a0interview, everyone I think saw it as me being trying to be sly, but I’m like, I’m actually just having a panic attack,\u201d Moroney told\u00a0PEOPLE in June 2023<\/a>.<\/p>\n She recalled being “honestly shocked” that she said it was Wallen’s shirt.<\/p>\n “But I guess since he had already\u00a0confirmed it with the poster thing<\/a>\u00a0that he did, I was like, \u2018Sure, yeah, it’s his shirt,'” said Moroney.<\/p>\n While she said the rumors made her “really uncomfortable,” she noted that she was glad “people care” about her music.<\/p>\n \u201cI’m not the kind of person that likes to talk about things like that,\u201d said Moroney at the time. \u201cAll my songs are about people. \u2018Tennessee Orange\u2019 is a very nice song, but if I told people who it\u2019s about, then they would ask me who \u2018Sleep on My Side\u2019 is about. I can\u2019t tell you that because it\u2019s not a nice song!\u201d<\/p>\n During an appearance on\u00a0Call Her Daddy<\/a>\u00a0in July 2024, Moroney 26, revealed that something romantic\u00a0occurred between her and Wallen, but they never dated “exclusively.”<\/p>\n “I have tried to avoid that in every single interview I’ve ever done.
