\n\t\t\t\t\t\tDarrell Powell, a Susquehanna Valley man diagnosed with amnesia after being found unconscious in a Florida convenience store, is now back home trying to piece together his forgotten life with the help of his ex-wife.You can view Part 1 of this story here.John Doe “I remember being brought out of the ambulance and taken into the hospital because it kind of jolted me awake. But I don’t really remember too much before that,” Powell said.Powell was discovered in the restroom of a Wawa store in Orlando on Sept. 8, without any identification.”I said, I don’t know. They had for, for the first week and a half or two weeks that they had John Doe and my hospital band,” he said.After more than a week in the hospital, Powell was diagnosed with a brain aneurysm and amnesia, leaving him without memories of his past life.”They said maybe I could get my memories back one day I wake up, and I had to have it back or some way, but they didn’t know for sure,” Powell said.Rekindled connection His ex-wife, Abi Knaub, has become his main connection to his past. Police identified Powell using facial recognition software and located Abi, who divorced him in 2013.”They landed on me because basically his parents have passed away and there is no one else,” Knaub said.Knaub is now working to help Powell piece together his life and memory. Powell graduated from Middletown Area High School in 1995 and worked as a photographer.Knaub last knew him to be living in Erie.”I feel hopeful that the– you know, hopefully I just be able to get started again,” Powell said. “Hopefully get some kind of job and back to steady place to live.”In a previous report, it was revealed that Powell booked a cruise out of Miami from Aug. 3 to 10 last summer.Another piece of the puzzle?A woman from Michigan, who met Powell on that cruise, contacted News 8 but wishes to remain anonymous.News 8 connected her with Knaub to help determine how Powell ended up in Orlando.
