{"id":156353,"date":"2025-11-27T21:39:09","date_gmt":"2025-11-27T21:39:09","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/il\/156353\/"},"modified":"2025-11-27T21:39:09","modified_gmt":"2025-11-27T21:39:09","slug":"see-a-half-lit-moon-shine-among-the-stars-of-aquarius-on-nov-27","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/il\/156353\/","title":{"rendered":"See a half-lit moon shine among the stars of Aquarius on Nov. 27"},"content":{"rendered":"<p id=\"d04c4a28-19b0-4261-b85d-ccb1d0e215b0\">The moon reaches its first quarter phase on Friday (Nov. 28), marking a perfect opportunity to explore the half-lit lunar disk as it shines among the stars of the constellation Aquarius in the hours following sunset.<\/p>\n<p>December&#8217;s first quarter <a data-analytics-id=\"inline-link\" href=\"https:\/\/www.space.com\/18880-moon-phases.html\" data-mrf-recirculation=\"inline-link\" data-before-rewrite-localise=\"https:\/\/www.space.com\/18880-moon-phases.html\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">moon phase<\/a> occurs at 1:59 a.m.EST (0659 GMT) on Nov. 28, when the right side of <a data-analytics-id=\"inline-link\" href=\"https:\/\/www.space.com\/55-earths-moon-formation-composition-and-orbit.html\" data-mrf-recirculation=\"inline-link\" data-before-rewrite-localise=\"https:\/\/www.space.com\/55-earths-moon-formation-composition-and-orbit.html\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">the moon<\/a> will appear illuminated by direct sunlight from our Earthly perspective, while the left side will be hidden behind a veil of impenetrable shadow.<\/p>\n<p><a id=\"elk-seasonal\" data-url=\"\" href=\"\" target=\"_blank\" referrerpolicy=\"no-referrer-when-downgrade\" data-hl-processed=\"none\"\/><\/p>\n<p id=\"d04c4a28-19b0-4261-b85d-ccb1d0e215b0-2\" class=\"paywall\" aria-hidden=\"true\">The first quarter moon rises around noon and sets close to midnight and so will have slipped below the horizon for viewers in the U.S. by the time it officially reaches the orbital milestone. These vast basaltic plains formed billions of years ago when masses of lava flooded ancient impact craters, before hardening to resurface swathes of the Earth-facing lunar disk.<\/p>\n<p><a data-analytics-id=\"inline-link\" href=\"https:\/\/www.space.com\/48-saturn-the-solar-systems-major-ring-bearer.html\" data-mrf-recirculation=\"inline-link\" data-before-rewrite-localise=\"https:\/\/www.space.com\/48-saturn-the-solar-systems-major-ring-bearer.html\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Saturn<\/a> will also be visible shining brightly to the upper left of the moon at sunset on Nov. 27, below the stars of the constellation Pisces.
