{"id":158639,"date":"2025-11-29T05:34:10","date_gmt":"2025-11-29T05:34:10","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/il\/158639\/"},"modified":"2025-11-29T05:34:10","modified_gmt":"2025-11-29T05:34:10","slug":"after-delays-spacex-rocket-lifts-off-for-transporter-15-mission-from-vandenberg-local-news","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/il\/158639\/","title":{"rendered":"After Delays, SpaceX Rocket Lifts Off for Transporter-15 Mission from Vandenberg | Local News"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>A hodgepodge of satellites, many manufactured around the globe and one built a relatively short distance away, finally traveled to orbit Friday morning when a Falcon 9 rocket blasted off from <a href=\"http:\/\/www.vandenberg.spaceforce.mil\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Vandenberg Space Force Base<\/a>.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>After three prior delays, the two-stage rocket manufactured by <a href=\"http:\/\/www.spacex.com\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">SpaceX<\/a> lifted off  at 10:44 a.m. from Space Launch Complex-4. The team had to scrub the most recent prior launch attempt due to a ground system issue.<\/p>\n<p>The Transporter-15 mission involved a whopping 140 payloads, including CubeSats, microsats, hosted payloads, and orbital transfer vehicles carrying 13 of those spacecraft to be deployed at a later time.<\/p>\n<p>Separation of the satellites began 54 minutes after liftoff and finished two hours later, according to SpaceX.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThere are all types of spacecraft\u00a0on these missions, everything from payloads for the U.S. government to constellation deployments to technology demonstrators to re-entry vehicles,\u201d said Tyler Lionquist from SpaceX. \u201cAnd we\u2019ve also seen several countries launch their first spacecraft ever on board Transporter missions, tons of student efforts and even a father-daughter CubeSat project.\u201d<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" data-recalc-dims=\"1\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"780\" height=\"995\" data-wp-class--hide=\"state.isContentHidden\" data-wp-class--show=\"state.isContentVisible\" data-wp-init=\"callbacks.setButtonStyles\" data-wp-on-async--click=\"actions.showLightbox\" data-wp-on-async--load=\"callbacks.setButtonStyles\" data-wp-on-async-window--resize=\"callbacks.setButtonStyles\" src=\"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/il\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/11\/112825-SpaceX-Transporter2a-nw.jpg\" alt=\"A Falcon 9 rocket blasts off from Vandenberg Space Force Base on Friday morning to carry the Transporter-15 mission made up of 140 payloads.\" class=\"wp-image-769319\"  \/><\/p>\n<p>\t\tA Falcon 9 rocket blasts off from Vandenberg Space Force Base on Friday morning to carry the Transporter-15 mission made up of 140 payloads. Credit: Nora Wallace photo<\/p>\n<p>Employees of a Santa Barbara-based <a href=\"https:\/\/umbra.space\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Umbra<\/a> had one satellite aboard Transporter-15 mission.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Umbra-11, a synthetic aperture radar spacecraft, deployed as expected less than 90 minutes after liftoff with a team calling out, \u201cUmbra 11. Separation confirmed.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>While Umbra has roots close to the launch site, many of the payloads have international links.<\/p>\n<p>Formosat-8, for Taiwan, boasts being the country\u2019s first domestically developed, optical remote-sensing satellite constellation. The Earth-observation spacecraft will provide data used for Taiwan\u2019s homeland security, agriculture and environmental monitoring.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/exolaunch.com\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Exolaunch<\/a> accounted for a number of payloads for customers in the United States, the United Kingdom, Germany, France, Finland, Lithuania, Belgium, Italy, Spain, Greece, Poland, South Korea, Taiwan, Turkey, Bulgaria, and the United Arab Emirates.<\/p>\n<p>Based in Germany,  Exolaunch provides mission management, satellite integration and deployment services. The firm has placed spacecraft on every previous Transporter mission, but Friday\u2019s involved their largest so far with 58 payloads for commercial, institutional and government customers from 16 countries.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>This marked 30th launch and landing for the first-stage booster which successfully touched down upon the droneship positioned in the Pacific Ocean.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>This was only the second mission for SpaceX to fly a first-stage booster 30 times, a representative said. <\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" data-recalc-dims=\"1\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"780\" height=\"861\" src=\"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/il\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/11\/112825-SpaceX-Transporter2b-nw.jpg\" alt=\"A Falcon 9 rocket blasts off from Vandenberg Space Force Base on Friday morning to carry the Transporter-15 mission made up of 140 payloads.\" class=\"wp-image-769320\"  \/>A Falcon 9 rocket blasts off from Vandenberg Space Force Base on Friday morning to carry the Transporter-15 mission made up of 140 payloads.
