This comes just weeks after Google reverse engineered Apple\u2019s technology, enabling Android phones to connect with iPhones over Apple\u2019s protocol for the first ever time.<\/p>\n<p>iOS 26.2 is widely expected to hit iPhones by mid-December, the exact date is yet to be confirmed. The beta doesn\u2019t yet enable codes to be generated and used, but it\u2019s there.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThere are already options to turn AirDrop off entirely,\u201d <a class=\"color-link\" href=\"https:\/\/www.macrumors.com\/2025\/11\/17\/ios-26-2-airdrop-codes\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noopener noreferrer\" data-ga-track=\"ExternalLink:https:\/\/www.macrumors.com\/2025\/11\/17\/ios-26-2-airdrop-codes\/\" aria-label=\"MacRumors\">MacRumors<\/a> explains, \u201climit AirDrop to contacts only, or turn AirDrop on for everyone for 10 minutes. The code-based option provides a way to create a connection with someone you don\u2019t want to create a contact, while avoiding having to turn AirDrop on for all people nearby.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>New AirDrop codes in beta<\/p>\n<p>MacRumours<\/p>\n<p>On Nov. 20, Google surprised Android and iPhone users \u2014 and potentially Apple \u2014 by <a class=\"color-link\" href=\"https:\/\/blog.google\/products\/android\/quick-share-airdrop\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noopener noreferrer\" data-ga-track=\"ExternalLink:https:\/\/blog.google\/products\/android\/quick-share-airdrop\/\" aria-label=\"announcing\">announcing<\/a> \u201cAndroid and iPhone users can now share files, starting with the Pixel 10.\u201d<\/p>\n<p class=\"short-post__description\">\u201cWhen it comes to sharing moments between family and friends, what device you have shouldn\u2019t matter,\u201d Google posted, prodding at Apple\u2019s walled garden. \u201cWe\u2019ve heard from many people that they want a simpler way to share files between devices.\u201d<\/p>\n<p class=\"short-post__description\">The solution is \u201ca way for Quick Share to work with AirDrop. And against that backdrop, Apple\u2019s iOS 26.2 AirDrop change is interesting.
