It’s been 13 years since the last Silent Hill film,\u00a0Silent Hill: Revelation,\u00a0arrived in theaters. Now, the beloved horror saga\u00a0is making its big-screen\u00a0comeback with Return to Silent Hill. Directed by Christophe Gans\u2014who helmed the game’s first live-action feature in 2006\u2014Return to Silent Hill is an\u00a0adaptation of Silent Hill 2\u00a0(arguably one of the most impactful horror games\u00a0out there). The\u00a0film will follow James Sunderland (Jeremy Irvine), as he ventures\u00a0into the titular town,\u00a0searching\u00a0for his partner,\u00a0Mary (Hannah Emily Anderson).<\/p>\n
The film had been the subject of some controversy. Since the release of its first trailer, fans have expressed skepticism regarding the movie, seemingly amplified by the franchise’s previous adaptations, which are often considered inferior to their source material.\u00a0Another trailer for Return to Silent Hill was released in late November<\/a>, showcasing more of the story and James’ search for Mary.<\/p>\n Recently, yet another trailer was\u00a0shared on social media. Surprisingly, the footage helped shed some of the bad perception around\u00a0the film, painting it\u00a0in a much more positive light. However,\u00a0it was ultimately removed. The X post that\u00a0originally shared the trailer now shows the following\u00a0message: “This media has been disabled in response to a report by the copyright owner.”\u00a0<\/p>\n That seems to indicate the footage\u00a0was either leaked or maybe even accidentally\u00a0released before schedule. The trailer\u00a0was fairly similar to the one\u00a0released in November, but it featured\u00a0some notable differences, including the use of music and some of the\u00a0scenes shown. Overall, this latest look at the movie\u00a0gave off a much more intimidating and sinister vibe.\u00a0<\/p>\n
