She replied by saying explaining her \u201clocal-for-global\u201d niche audience focus in an age of digital disruption. \u201cNobody is beholden to anybody anymore,\u201d she emphasized. \u201cWe are living in a world where you are beholden to what you watch, so you can\u2019t control my audience anymore. I\u2019m making content for a specific audience, for that niche. \u2026 Because it\u2019s enough for my niche. It may not be enough for the larger corporations, which is, I guess, why the larger mainstream broadcasters haven\u2019t actually invested that much in diverse content, simply because maybe it\u2019s not making enough money for them.\u201d<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/  a-font-body-m     \">\n\tShe didn\u2019t hold back when she added: \u201cWe can employ all the diversity officers that we like in the world, and they could keep canvassing year after year for more diverse content, but the truth is that only a certain number, only a certain percentage\u201d will get picked up by them.<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/  a-font-body-m     \">\n\tFor EbonyLife, which has made headlines with everything from local box office hits The Wedding Party and\u00a0\u00d2l\u00f2t\u016br\u00e9 to global deals with Netflix and Sony, it is a different story.
