On Monday, Dec. 1, The Office<\/a> alum shared an Instagram<\/a> photo from her hotel room while in St. Louis for Thanksgiving. Remaking the photo<\/a> she took during last holiday season, the actress sat in the same chair, wearing the same white robe and drinking from a coffee mug.<\/p>\n The 51-year-old shared how thankful she is after last year\u2019s photo was taken during her cancer treatment.<\/p>\n \u201cOne year later. Same hotel. Longer hair,\u201d she wrote in the caption. \u201cIt was exactly 2 years ago in December 2023 that I got the news I had breast cancer. All of my diagnosis and treatment dates are burned into my brain. These \u2018anniversaries\u2019 inspire reflection. I try to take a moment and sit with all that has happened.\u201d<\/p>\n \u201cI\u2019m thankful for so many things\u2026health, family, our crazy pets that make us laugh. She said on Today that a year prior, she went in for her “annoying” routine mammogram appointment that she had been “putting off.”<\/p>\n After a month of follow-up tests and a biopsy, Fischer was diagnosed with the rare and aggressive form of breast cancer. She had a lumpectomy in January 2024 to remove the tumor, which was luckily caught early and hadn\u2019t spread.<\/p>\n The actress underwent 12 rounds of chemo, three weeks of radiation, and was then treated with infusions of two other medications.<\/p>\n Fischer, who is cancer-free, has since been sharing small updates about her journey on social media and encouraging others to stay on top of routine screenings.<\/p>\n \u201cIf I had waited six months longer, things could have been much worse,\u201d she said. \u201cIt could have spread. Seeing women post photos of their mammogram appointments on Instagram needled me into setting my own (which I was late for). I\u2019m so glad I did.
